La passion

Jesus withdraws to Ephraim

Because the chief priests and the Pharisees plan to arrest him, Jesus no longer walks openly among the Jews but withdraws with his disciples to a town called Ephraim near the wilderness. As Passover approaches, people go up to Jerusalem to cleanse themselves and look for Jesus in the temple, asking if he will come to the feast John 11:54-57.

Jean 11,54-57

54Jesus therefore no longer moved about openly among the Jews, but withdrew from there to the region near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim, and there he stayed with his disciples.
55Now the Jewish Passover was near, and many went up to Jerusalem from the countryside before the Passover to purify themselves.
56They kept looking for Jesus, and standing in the temple they said to one another, "What do you think? Surely he will not come to the feast?"
ἐζήτουν οὖν τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἔλεγον μετʼ ἀλλήλων ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ ἑστηκότες· Τί δοκεῖ ὑμῖν; ὅτι οὐ μὴ ἔλθῃ εἰς τὴν ἑορτήν;
57The chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that anyone who knew where he was should report it, so that they might arrest him.
