Moïse
The Law Concerning the Prophet Like Moses
God promises through Moses to raise up a prophet like him from among the people, whom they must listen to. The promise is linked to the people's prayer at Horeb asking not to hear God's voice directly. The Lord will put his words in the prophet's mouth and hold accountable anyone who does not listen. A prophet who speaks in the name of the Lord without being sent, or in the names of other gods, must die. The mark of a true prophet is that what he predicts in the Lord's name actually comes to pass.
Deutéronome 18,15-22
15The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your own brothers. You must listen to him.
16For this is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb, on the day of the assembly, when you said, "Let me not hear the voice of the LORD my God again or see this great fire anymore, or I will die."
17And the LORD said to me, "What they have spoken is good.
18I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.
19And if anyone refuses to listen to my words, which that prophet speaks in my name, I myself will hold him accountable.
20But any prophet who presumes to speak in my name something I have not commanded him to say, or who speaks in the name of other gods—that prophet must die."
21You may say in your heart, "How can we recognize a word that the LORD has not spoken?"
22If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, then that is a word the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; do not be afraid of him.
