Moïse
Moses Returns to Egypt
Moses takes leave of his father-in-law Jethro and travels back to Egypt with his wife and sons, holding God's staff. Along the way, the Lord says He will harden Pharaoh's heart and that Moses must call Israel God's firstborn son—if Pharaoh refuses to let the people go, the Lord will kill Pharaoh's firstborn son.
Exode 4,18-23
18Then Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, "Let me return to my relatives in Egypt to see whether they are still alive." Jethro said to Moses, "Go in peace."
19The LORD said to Moses in Midian, "Go back to Egypt, for all the men who wanted to kill you are dead."
20So Moses took his wife and his sons, set them on a donkey, and started back to the land of Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand.
21The LORD said to Moses, "When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have put in your power. But I will harden his heart, and he will not let the people go.
22Then say to Pharaoh: This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son,
23and I told you, 'Let my son go, so that he may serve me.' But you refused to let him go; therefore I will kill your firstborn son."
