Solomon's Coronation and the Death of David

The assembly praises the Lord and brings great sacrifices. Solomon is made king a second time and anointed as prince, and Zadok is anointed as priest. Solomon sits on the Lord's throne, and David dies at a ripe old age after reigning for forty years—seven in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem.

1 Chroniques 29,20-30

20Then David said to the whole assembly, "Praise the LORD your God!" And the whole assembly praised the LORD, the God of their fathers, and they bowed their heads and prostrated themselves before the LORD and before the king.
21The next day they sacrificed to the LORD and offered burnt offerings to him: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
22They ate and drank before the LORD that day with great joy. Then they made Solomon son of David king a second time; they anointed him before the LORD as ruler, and Zadok as priest.
23So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.
24All the officials and the mighty men, and all the sons of King David as well, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon.
25The LORD exalted Solomon greatly in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him such royal majesty as no king over Israel had ever had before him.
26David son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
27He reigned over Israel forty years: seven years in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem.
28He died at a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor, and his son Solomon reigned in his place.
29The acts of King David, from first to last, are written in the records of Samuel the seer, the records of Nathan the prophet, and the records of Gad the seer,
30together with all the details of his reign and his power, and the events that came upon him and upon Israel and upon all the kingdoms of the other lands.
