Ahuzzam

Ahussam is mentioned in 1 Chronicles 4:6 as one of the sons of Ashhur and his wife Naarah. Ashhur is regarded as the founder of the city of Tekoa in the hill country of Judah. Ahussam thus belongs to the tribe of Judah and is included in the detailed genealogies that link family lines to geographical settlements in Judah. Although the Bible tells us nothing more about his life or deeds, his place in the genealogy underscores the importance placed on preserving tribal lineages, which had practical significance for land distribution, inheritance rights, and identity. Tekoa, the city founded by his father, later became known, among other things, as the home of the prophet Amos.
