Ammishabad, son of Benaiah and grandson of the priest Jehoiada, commanded the third month's division in King David's rotating military system. The division consisted of 24,000 men, and Ammishabad held operational responsibility in his father's place, since Benaiah occupied a higher position in the king's service. David's kingdom was organized with twelve such divisions, each serving one month—a system that ensured continuous defense readiness while allowing soldiers to return home to their families and farms. Ammishabad's role reflects how military leadership in the united monarchy could be passed down within prominent families, testifying to the administrative sophistication under David's rule.

Leader of the third month's military division

Ammisabad served as the operational leader of the military division on duty during the third month under King David. The division consisted of 24,000 men, and Ammisabad led them in place of his father Benaiah, since Benaiah held a higher position in the king's service.

Part of David's rotating military system

Ammisabad was one of twelve division leaders in David's well-organized military system, where each division served for one month of the year. This system ensured continuous military readiness for the united kingdom and testifies to the administrative capacity under David's rule.
