Beninu was a Levite who lived in the period after the Babylonian exile. He is mentioned as one of the Levites who placed his seal on the covenant with God under Nehemiah's leadership, when the people committed themselves to follow God's law after returning to Jerusalem.

4On the platform of the Levites stood Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Kenani, and they cried out with a loud voice to the LORD their God.

Along with the others who sealed the covenant, Beninu committed to follow all of God's commands, statutes and laws, and to remain separate from the surrounding peoples.
