Jehoiarib (also called Jehoiarib) was the head of the first of the 24 priestly divisions established by David. His descendants were among those who returned from exile in Babylon and settled in Jerusalem. The family of Jehoiarib gained great significance in later times, as the Maccabees (Hasmoneans) belonged to this priestly lineage.
