Shamgar, son of Anath, was one of Israel's judges mentioned briefly in the Book of Judges. He is known for killing 600 Philistines with an ox goad, thereby saving Israel from Philistine oppression. He is one of the so-called "minor judges" who are only mentioned briefly in the Bible.

Shamgar Succeeds Ehud as Judge

Shamgar emerged as judge after Ehud, who had delivered Israel from the oppression of the Moabites. Shamgar continued the work of protecting Israel from hostile nations.

30That day Moab was subdued under the hand of Israel, and the land had rest for eighty years.

An unusual hero with a simple weapon
