Sheshan's daughter and Jarha had a son named Attai, who carried on the family line. This shows that foreigners could be incorporated into Israel's lineage.
35 and Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his servant Jarha, and she bore him Attai. héb וַיִּתֵּ֨ן שֵׁשָׁ֧ן אֶת־בִּתּ֛וֹ לְיַרְחָ֥ע עַבְדּ֖וֹ לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַתֵּ֥לֶד ל֖וֹ אֶת־עַתָּֽי׃
36 Attai fathered Nathan, and Nathan fathered Zabad. héb וְעַתַּי֙ הֹלִ֣יד אֶת־נָתָ֔ן וְנָתָ֖ן הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־זָבָֽד׃
Through Attai, Sheshan's lineage continued for many generations, all the way to important figures in the tribe of Judah.
36 Attai fathered Nathan, and Nathan fathered Zabad. héb וְעַתַּי֙ הֹלִ֣יד אֶת־נָתָ֔ן וְנָתָ֖ן הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־זָבָֽד׃
37 Zabad fathered Ephlal, and Ephlal fathered Obed. héb וְזָבָד֙ הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־אֶפְלָ֔ל וְאֶפְלָ֖ל הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־עוֹבֵֽד׃
38 Obed fathered Jehu, and Jehu fathered Azariah. héb וְעוֹבֵד֙ הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־יֵה֔וּא וְיֵה֖וּא הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־עֲזַרְיָֽה׃
39 Azariah fathered Helez, and Helez fathered Eleasah. héb וַעֲזַרְיָה֙ הֹלִ֣יד אֶת־חָ֔לֶץ וְחֶ֖לֶץ הֹלִ֥יד אֶת־אֶלְעָשָֽׂה׃
40 Eleasah fathered Sismai, and Sismai fathered Shallum. héb וְאֶלְעָשָׂה֙ הֹלִ֣יד אֶת־סִֽסְמָ֔י וְסִסְמַ֖י הֹלִ֥יד אֶת־שַׁלּֽוּם׃
41 Shallum fathered Jekamiah, and Jekamiah fathered Elishama. héb וְשַׁלּוּם֙ הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־יְקַמְיָ֔ה וִֽיקַמְיָ֖ה הֹלִ֥יד אֶת־אֱלִישָׁמָֽע׃
