The number 3600 appears in 2 Chronicles 2:1, where Solomon appoints 3600 overseers to lead the work of building the temple in Jerusalem. These overseers were responsible for organizing the seventy thousand carriers and eighty thousand stonecutters in the mountains. The figure testifies to the enormous scale of the temple project and the careful administrative organization it required. In the parallel text in 1 Kings 5:30, the number 3300 overseers is mentioned, a difference that has been the subject of rabbinic discussion. Beyond this specific occurrence, the number 3600 does not have a broad symbolic meaning in biblical or Jewish tradition, and it plays no known role in gematria. Mathematically, 3600 = 60 × 60. The number 60 was the base in the Mesopotamian sexagesimal system, which was developed in Babylon and influenced among other things timekeeping (60 seconds, 60 minutes). However, this connection belongs more to Babylonian than biblical understanding of numbers.
