Jesus appears to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias (John 21:1-19). They have fished all night without catching anything. Jesus says, 'Cast the net on the right side!' — they catch 153 fish. Jesus prepares breakfast on the shore. Three times he asks Peter, 'Do you love me?' Three times Peter answers yes. Three times Jesus says, 'Feed my lambs/sheep.' Restoration after Peter's three denials.
Betydning
The risen Jesus seeks out the disciples in their daily lives — by the fishing boat, on the beach, at the meal. Peter's triple restoration mirrors his triple denial. Forgiveness and new mission go together. The call to feed the sheep is the call to shepherd service in Jesus' place.
GT-forbindelser
The shepherd motif from Ezekiel 34, where God himself will tend his sheep. Moses as shepherd for the flock who was called to lead the people (Exodus 3). Elijah's calling of Elisha while he was working at the plow (1 Kings 19:19-21) — the call comes in the midst of daily life.

White color. This Sunday has traditionally focused on recognition and restoration — the risen one gives a new mission to those who failed.
Historie
The breakfast scene by the sea has been used in catechesis on reconciliation and calling since the early church. The number 153 has fascinated theologians: Jerome believed it represented all known fish species — thus all nations.
