Warning about repentance and the killed
Jesus uses two tragic events – the Galileans whom Pilate had killed, and the eighteen who died when the tower of Siloam fell – to warn that everyone must repent to avoid perishing.
Lukasevangeliet 13,1-5
1At that same time some people came and told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.
Παρῆσαν δέ τινες ἐν αὐτῷ τῷ καιρῷ ἀπαγγέλλοντες αὐτῷ περὶ τῶν Γαλιλαίων ὧν τὸ αἷμα Πιλᾶτος ἔμιξεν μετὰ τῶν θυσιῶν αὐτῶν.
2He answered them, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered this way?
καὶ ⸀ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Δοκεῖτε ὅτι οἱ Γαλιλαῖοι οὗτοι ἁμαρτωλοὶ παρὰ πάντας τοὺς Γαλιλαίους ἐγένοντο, ὅτι ⸀ταῦτα πεπόνθασιν;
3No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you will all perish just as they did.
οὐχί, λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀλλʼ ἐὰν μὴ μετανοῆτε πάντες ⸀ὁμοίως ἀπολεῖσθε.
4Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than everyone else living in Jerusalem?
ἢ ἐκεῖνοι οἱ ⸀δεκαοκτὼ ἐφʼ οὓς ἔπεσεν ὁ πύργος ἐν τῷ Σιλωὰμ καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτούς, δοκεῖτε ὅτι ⸀αὐτοὶ ὀφειλέται ἐγένοντο παρὰ πάντας ⸀τοὺς ἀνθρώπους τοὺς ⸀κατοικοῦντας Ἰερουσαλήμ;
5No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way."
οὐχί, λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀλλʼ ἐὰν μὴ ⸀μετανοῆτε πάντες ⸀ὡσαύτως ἀπολεῖσθε.
