The Letter to the Church in Thyatira

Jesus praises the church in Thyatira for their love, faith, and perseverance, but accuses them of tolerating the false prophetess Jezebel, who leads believers into sexual immorality and idol worship. He warns that she and her children will be struck with sickness and death, yet promises authority over the nations and the morning star to those who remain faithful until the end.

Uppenbarelseboken 2,18-29

18And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze:
19I know your works—your love and faith, your service and endurance—and that your latest works are greater than your first.
20But I have this against you: you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.
21I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to turn from her immorality.
22Look, I am throwing her onto a bed of suffering, and those who commit adultery with her into terrible affliction, unless they repent of her works.
23I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am the one who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your works.
24But to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching and have not learned what they call the deep things of Satan, I say: I lay on you no other burden.
25Only hold fast to what you have until I come.
26To the one who conquers and keeps my works to the end, I will give authority over the nations—
27he will rule them with an iron rod and shatter them like clay pots—
28just as I myself have received authority from my Father. And I will give him the morning star.
29Whoever has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
