The Judgment on the Children of Ammon
Ezekiel prophesies against the people of Ammon because they mocked the Lord. A polished sword is drawn to slaughter and devour; it will be laid on the necks of the wicked who are sentenced to death while false prophets see empty visions and speak lies. The sword is returned to its sheath, for the Lord will judge Ammon in the place where they were created, in the land from which they came. He will pour out his fury, blow upon them with the fire of his wrath, and hand them over to ruthless men who devise destruction. They will become fuel for the fire; blood will flow throughout their land, and they will no longer be remembered.
Hesekiel 21,33-37
33And you, son of man, prophesy and say: Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites and their taunting. Say: A sword, a sword, drawn for the slaughter, polished to devour, to flash like lightning—
וְאַתָּ֣ה בֶן־אָדָ֗ם הִנָּבֵ֤א וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙ כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהֹוִ֔ה אֶל־בְּנֵ֥י עַמּ֖וֹן וְאֶל־חֶרְפָּתָ֑ם וְאָמַרְתָּ֗ חֶ֣רֶב חֶ֤רֶב פְּתוּחָה֙ לְטֶ֣בַח מְרוּטָ֔ה לְהָכִ֖יל לְמַ֥עַן בָּרָֽק׃
34while they see false visions for you and divine lies for you—to lay it on the necks of the wicked who are doomed to die, whose day has come, the time of their final punishment.
בַּחֲז֥וֹת לָךְ֙ שָׁ֔וְא בִּקְסָם־לָ֖ךְ כָּזָ֑ב לָתֵ֣ת אוֹתָ֗ךְ אֶֽל־צַוְּארֵי֙ חַֽלְלֵ֣י רְשָׁעִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֣א יוֹמָ֔ם בְּעֵ֖ת עֲוֺ֥ן קֵֽץ׃
35Return it to its sheath! In the place where you were created, in the land of your origin, I will judge you.
הָשַׁ֖ב אֶל־תַּעְרָ֑הּ בִּמְק֧וֹם אֲשֶׁר־נִבְרֵ֛את בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מְכֻרוֹתַ֖יִךְ אֶשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֹתָֽךְ׃
36I will pour out my indignation upon you; I will breathe the fire of my wrath against you and hand you over to brutal men, skilled in destruction.
וְשָׁפַכְתִּ֤י עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ זַעְמִ֔י בְּאֵ֥שׁ עֶבְרָתִ֖י אָפִ֣יחַ עָלָ֑יִךְ וּנְתַתִּ֗יךְ בְּיַד֙ אֲנָשִׁ֣ים בֹּֽעֲרִ֔ים חָרָשֵׁ֖י מַשְׁחִֽית׃
37You will be fuel for the fire; your blood will be spilled in the land. You will not be remembered, for I, the LORD, have spoken.
לָאֵ֤שׁ תִּֽהְיֶה֙ לְאָכְלָ֔ה דָּמֵ֥ךְ יִהְיֶ֖ה בְּת֣וֹךְ הָאָ֑רֶץ לֹ֣א תִזָּכֵ֔רִי כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבַּֽרְתִּי׃ פ
