Requirements for Unblemished Sacrificial Animals

The Lord speaks to Moses and gives commands to Aaron and the people of Israel that sacrificial animals – both burnt offerings and peace offerings, given as vow offerings or freewill offerings – must be unblemished male animals from cattle, sheep, or goats to be accepted with favor. Blind, crippled, sick, or injured animals, animals with warts, scabs, or rashes, and animals with crushed, broken, torn, or cut-off testicles are not to be brought forward. Animals with limbs that are too long or too short may be given as freewill offerings, but not as vow offerings. Nor shall sacrificial animals from the hand of foreigners be accepted, because they have a blemish.
