The Parable of the Lamp

Jesus uses the image of a lamp that is not hidden under a bowl or a bed, but placed on a stand so its light can be seen. He emphasizes that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, and urges listeners to pay attention to how they hear, for whoever has will receive more, while whoever does not have will lose even what they think they possess.

Lukasevangeliet 8,16-18

16"No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he sets it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.
17For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing concealed that will not be made known and brought to light.
18So pay attention to how you listen. For to the one who has, more will be given; and from the one who does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away."
