Ahinoam from Jezreel was one of King David's earliest wives, whom he took as his wife during the period when he lived as an outlaw and was pursued by King Saul. She is consistently mentioned together with Abigail from Carmel, and the two women shared a fate throughout David's wandering life. Ahinoam was captured by Amalekites during the raid on Ziklag, but she was rescued when David pursued the enemy and freed the captives. After Saul's death, she followed David to Hebron, where he was anointed king over Judah. In Hebron she gave birth to Amnon, David's firstborn son – a son whose tragic life would later cast dark shadows over the royal house.

Marriage to David

David married Ahinoam of Jezreel during the time he was fleeing from Saul. She became his wife along with Abigail from Carmel.

Captured by the Amalekites

Ahinoam was taken captive together with Abigail when the Amalekites attacked and plundered Ziklag. David pursued the attackers and rescued both wives as well as all other captives.

After Saul's death, Ahinoam went with David to Hebron, where he was anointed king over Judah.
