Artemas
Paul's coworker
Artemas is a Christian coworker mentioned in Paul's letter to Titus. In Tit 3:12 it appears that Paul considered sending either Artemas or Tychicus to Crete to take over Titus' responsibility there, so that Titus could join Paul in Nicopolis. Although Artemas is only mentioned in this one place in the New Testament, the context testifies that he was a trusted and competent leader whom Paul regarded as fit to carry out church work. His name suggests Greek origin, and he was part of a broader network of traveling coworkers who were crucial for the spread of the Christian faith throughout the Mediterranean region.
