The Reading of the Law

As part of the community in rebuilt Jerusalem, Hasshub was among those who heard Ezra read from the Law of Moses and took part in the spiritual renewal.

1Then all the people gathered as one to the square in front of the Water Gate, and they asked Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded Israel.
2So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly—men and women and all who could understand what they heard.
3He read from it, facing the square before the Water Gate, from daybreak until midday, to the men and the women and all who could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law.
