Jigdalja is a little-known biblical figure mentioned only once in Scripture, in Jeremiah 35:4. He is referred to as 'Man of God' and was the father of Hanan, whose sons had a chamber in the temple in Jerusalem. His title 'Man of God' suggests he may have been a prophet or a man with spiritual authority.

Mentioned in connection with the Rechabites' test

Jigdalja is mentioned as the father of Hanan, whose sons' chamber in the temple was used by the prophet Jeremiah when he tested the Rechabites with wine.

4and I brought them to the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah, the man of God. It was next to the chamber of the officials, above the chamber of Maaseiah son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

The Chamber of His Grandsons in the Temple

The sons of Hanan, son of Jigdalja, had their own chamber in the house of the Lord, indicating that the family held a recognized position among the temple servants.

2"Go to the house of the Rechabites and speak with them. Bring them to the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and offer them wine to drink."
3So I took Jaazaniah son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, along with his brothers and all his sons—the whole house of the Rechabites—
4and I brought them to the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah, the man of God. It was next to the chamber of the officials, above the chamber of Maaseiah son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

Referred to as 'Man of God'

Jigdalja is given the honored title 'Man of God', a designation usually used in the Old Testament for prophets and persons with special spiritual authority, such as Moses and Elijah.

4and I brought them to the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah, the man of God. It was next to the chamber of the officials, above the chamber of Maaseiah son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

Context: The Faithfulness of the Rechabites

The event where Jigdaljah is mentioned concerns the Rechabites' faithfulness to the command of their ancestor Jonadab. Jeremiah used their obedience as an example to rebuke Judah for their disobedience to God.

1This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah:
2"Go to the house of the Rechabites and speak with them. Bring them to the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and offer them wine to drink."
3So I took Jaazaniah son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, along with his brothers and all his sons—the whole house of the Rechabites—
4and I brought them to the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah, the man of God. It was next to the chamber of the officials, above the chamber of Maaseiah son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.
5Then I set before the members of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine and cups, and I said to them, "Drink some wine."
6But they answered, "We drink no wine, for Jonadab son of Rechab, our father, commanded us: 'You and your children are never to drink wine.
7You are not to build houses, or sow seed, or plant vineyards, or own them. Instead, you are to live in tents all your days, so that you may live long in the land where you are sojourning.'
8We have obeyed the voice of Jonadab son of Rechab, our father, in everything he commanded us: to drink no wine all our days—neither we, nor our wives, nor our sons and daughters.
9We build no houses to live in, and we have no vineyard or field or seed.
10We have lived in tents, obeying and doing everything our father Jonadab commanded us.
