Jochebed was a Levite woman who showed extraordinary courage and faith by hiding her son Moses for three months to protect him from Pharaoh's death decree against Hebrew baby boys. She placed him in a basket on the Nile, which led to his being found and adopted by Pharaoh's daughter. Her faith is counted among the great examples of faith in the Bible.
When she could no longer hide him, she made a basket of papyrus, sealed it with tar and pitch, placed the child inside, and set the basket among the reeds by the bank of the Nile.
3When she could hide him no longer, she got a basket of papyrus, coated it with tar and pitch, laid the child in it, and set it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile.
The faith of Moses' parents is highlighted in Hebrews, where it says that by faith they hid Moses for three months because they saw he was a beautiful child and were not afraid of the king's command.
23By faith Moses' parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king's edict.
