Jusjab-Hesed (Ben-Hesed) was one of King Solomon's twelve district administrators responsible for providing food for the king's household. He governed the district of Arubbót, which included Soko and all the land of Hefer. His role was vital to the administrative organization of the united kingdom under Solomon.

Jusjab-Hesed was appointed by King Solomon as one of twelve district administrators responsible for supplying the royal household with food for one month each year.

וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֞ה שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂ֤ר נִצָּבִים֙ עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְכִלְכְּל֥וּ אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וְאֶת־בֵּית֑וֹ חֹ֧דֶשׁ בַּשָּׁנָ֛ה יִהְיֶ֥ה עַל־*אחד **הָאֶחָ֖ד לְכַלְכֵּֽל׃ ס ‬
10Ben-Hesed, in Arubboth—Socoh and all the land of Hepher were his;

Administration of the Arubbót District

He was in charge of Arubboth, including Socoh and all the land of Hepher, an important agricultural area in western Israel.

וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֞ה שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂ֤ר נִצָּבִים֙ עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְכִלְכְּל֥וּ אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וְאֶת־בֵּית֑וֹ חֹ֧דֶשׁ בַּשָּׁנָ֛ה יִהְיֶ֥ה עַל־*אחד **הָאֶחָ֖ד לְכַלְכֵּֽל׃ ס ‬
8These are their names: Ben-Hur, in the hill country of Ephraim;
וְאֵ֣לֶּה שְׁמוֹתָ֔ם בֶּן־ח֖וּר בְּהַ֥ר אֶפְרָֽיִם׃ ס ‬
9Ben-Deker, in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh, and Elon Beth Hanan;
בֶּן־דֶּ֛קֶר בְּמָקַ֥ץ וּבְשַֽׁעַלְבִ֖ים וּבֵ֣ית שָׁ֑מֶשׁ וְאֵיל֖וֹן בֵּ֥ית חָנָֽן׃ ס ‬
10Ben-Hesed, in Arubboth—Socoh and all the land of Hepher were his;
בֶּן־חֶ֖סֶד בָּֽאֲרֻבּ֑וֹת ל֥וֹ שֹׂכֹ֖ה וְכָל־אֶ֥רֶץ חֵֽפֶר׃ ס ‬
11Ben-Abinadab, in all of Naphath Dor—he had Solomon's daughter Taphath as his wife;
בֶּן־אֲבִֽינָדָ֖ב כָּל־נָ֣פַת דֹּ֑אר טָפַת֙ בַּת־שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה הָ֥יְתָה לּ֖וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ ס ‬
12Baana son of Ahilud, in Taanach and Megiddo, and all of Beth Shan, which lies beside Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth Shan to Abel Meholah and over as far as Jokmeam;
בַּֽעֲנָא֙ בֶּן־אֲחִיל֔וּד תַּעְנַ֖ךְ וּמְגִדּ֑וֹ וְכָל־בֵּ֣ית שְׁאָ֡ן אֲשֶׁר֩ אֵ֨צֶל צָרְתַ֜נָה מִתַּ֣חַת לְיִזְרְעֶ֗אל מִבֵּ֤ית שְׁאָן֙ עַ֚ד אָבֵ֣ל מְחוֹלָ֔ה עַ֖ד מֵעֵ֥בֶר לְיָקְמֳעָֽם׃ ס ‬
13Ben-Geber, in Ramoth Gilead—the settlements of Jair son of Manasseh in Gilead were his, as well as the region of Argob in Bashan, sixty large cities with walls and bronze bars on their gates;
בֶּן־גֶּ֖בֶר בְּרָמֹ֣ת גִּלְעָ֑ד ל֡וֹ חַוֺּת֩ יָאִ֨יר בֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁ֜ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּגִּלְעָ֗ד ל֚וֹ חֶ֤בֶל אַרְגֹּב֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּבָּשָׁ֔ן שִׁשִּׁים֙ עָרִ֣ים גְּדֹל֔וֹת חוֹמָ֖ה וּבְרִ֥יחַ נְחֹֽשֶׁת׃ ס ‬
14Ahinadab son of Iddo, in Mahanaim;
אֲחִֽינָדָ֥ב בֶּן־עִדֹּ֖א מַחֲנָֽיְמָה׃ ‬
15Ahimaaz, in Naphtali—he too had married a daughter of Solomon, Basemath;
אֲחִימַ֖עַץ בְּנַפְתָּלִ֑י גַּם־ה֗וּא לָקַ֛ח אֶת־בָּשְׂמַ֥ת בַּת־שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ ‬
16Baana son of Hushai, in Asher and Bealoth;
בַּֽעֲנָא֙ בֶּן־חוּשָׁ֔י בְּאָשֵׁ֖ר וּבְעָלֽוֹת׃ ס ‬
17Jehoshaphat son of Paruah, in Issachar;
יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט בֶּן־פָּר֖וּחַ בְּיִשָׂשכָֽר׃ ס ‬
18Shimei son of Ela, in Benjamin;
שִׁמְעִ֥י בֶן־אֵלָ֖א בְּבִנְיָמִֽן׃ ס ‬
19Geber son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan. He was the one governor over that land.
גֶּ֥בֶר בֶּן־אֻרִ֖י בְּאֶ֣רֶץ גִּלְעָ֑ד אֶ֜רֶץ סִיח֣וֹן ׀ מֶ֣לֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִ֗י וְעֹג֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֔ן וּנְצִ֥יב אֶחָ֖ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ ‬

Provision for the king's household

Each of the twelve governors, including Jushab-Hesed, provided food for King Solomon and his household one month each year, testifying to the wealth of the kingdom.
