Keran was one of the sons of Dishon, a Horite clan leader in the land of Seir. He is mentioned in the genealogies in Genesis and 1 Chronicles as part of the original inhabitants of the Edom region before the Esauites took over the area.
12The Horites used to live in Seir, but the descendants of Esau dispossessed them, wiped them out, and settled in their place, just as Israel did in the land the LORD gave them as their possession.)
22just as he had done for the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites before them, so that they dispossessed them and have lived in their place to this day.
