Conaniah was a Levite who served under King Hezekiah of Judah. He was appointed to lead the collection and management of the tithes, offerings, and holy gifts in the Lord's temple. He played an important administrative role in Hezekiah's religious reforms.

King Hezekiah appointed Conaniah to lead the collection of tithes, offerings, and holy gifts in the Lord's house.
12They faithfully brought in the contributions, the tithes, and the dedicated gifts. Conaniah the Levite was in charge of them, and his brother Shimei was second in command.
וַיָּבִ֨יאוּ אֶת־הַתְּרוּמָ֧ה וְהַֽמַּעֲשֵׂ֛ר וְהַקֳּדָשִׁ֖ים בֶּאֱמוּנָ֑ה וַעֲלֵיהֶ֤ם נָגִיד֙ *כונניהו **כָּֽנַנְיָ֣הוּ הַלֵּוִ֔י וְשִׁמְעִ֥י אָחִ֖יהוּ מִשְׁנֶֽה׃
Faithful stewardship of the tithes
Conaniah proved faithful in managing the collected gifts and tithes that the people brought to the temple.

13Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah served as supervisors under Conaniah and his brother Shimei, by appointment of King Hezekiah and of Azariah the official in charge of the house of God.
וִֽיחִיאֵ֡ל וַ֠עֲזַזְיָהוּ וְנַ֨חַת וַעֲשָׂהאֵ֜ל וִֽירִימ֤וֹת וְיוֹזָבָד֙ וֶאֱלִיאֵ֣ל וְיִסְמַכְיָ֔הוּ וּמַ֖חַת וּבְנָיָ֑הוּ פְּקִידִ֗ים מִיַּ֤ד *כונניהו **כָּֽנַנְיָ֙הוּ֙ וְשִׁמְעִ֣י אָחִ֔יו בְּמִפְקַד֙ יְחִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַעֲזַרְיָ֖הוּ נְגִ֥יד בֵּית־הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃
His brother Shimei as deputy leader
Conaniah's brother Shimei served as his second-in-command in the work of managing the temple offerings.

Overseers under his leadership
Under Konanjas leadership, overseers were appointed to help distribute the gifts to the priests and Levites fairly.

וִֽיחִיאֵ֡ל וַ֠עֲזַזְיָהוּ וְנַ֨חַת וַעֲשָׂהאֵ֜ל וִֽירִימ֤וֹת וְיוֹזָבָד֙ וֶאֱלִיאֵ֣ל וְיִסְמַכְיָ֔הוּ וּמַ֖חַת וּבְנָיָ֑הוּ פְּקִידִ֗ים מִיַּ֤ד *כונניהו **כָּֽנַנְיָ֙הוּ֙ וְשִׁמְעִ֣י אָחִ֔יו בְּמִפְקַד֙ יְחִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַעֲזַרְיָ֖הוּ נְגִ֥יד בֵּית־הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃
14Kore son of Imnah the Levite, the gatekeeper at the East Gate, was in charge of the freewill offerings given to God, distributing the contributions made to the LORD and also the consecrated gifts.
וְקוֹרֵ֨א בֶן־יִמְנָ֤ה הַלֵּוִי֙ הַשּׁוֹעֵ֣ר לַמִּזְרָ֔חָה עַ֖ל נִדְב֣וֹת הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים לָתֵת֙ תְּרוּמַ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה וְקָדְשֵׁ֖י הַקֳּדָשִֽׁים׃
15Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah assisted him faithfully in the towns of the priests, distributing to their fellow Levites and priests according to their divisions, to old and young alike.
וְעַל־יָד֡וֹ עֵ֣דֶן וּ֠מִנְיָמִן וְיֵשׁ֨וּעַ וּֽשְׁמַֽעְיָ֜הוּ אֲמַרְיָ֧הוּ וּשְׁכַנְיָ֛הוּ בְּעָרֵ֥י הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים בֶּאֱמוּנָ֑ה לָתֵ֤ת לַאֲחֵיהֶם֙ בְּמַחְלְק֔וֹת כַּגָּד֖וֹל כַּקָּטָֽן׃
Part of Hezekiah's religious reforms
Konanjas service was a central part of King Hezekiah's extensive religious reforms that restored proper worship in Judah.
20This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah. He did what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God.
וַיַּ֧עַשׂ כָּזֹ֛את יְחִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ בְּכָל־יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיַּ֨עַשׂ הַטּ֤וֹב וְהַיָּשָׁר֙ וְהָ֣אֱמֶ֔ת לִפְנֵ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהָֽיו׃
21In everything he undertook—in the service of the house of God and in obedience to the law and the commandments—he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly, and so he prospered.
וּבְכָֽל־מַעֲשֶׂ֞ה אֲשֶׁר־הֵחֵ֣ל ׀ בַּעֲבוֹדַ֣ת בֵּית־הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים וּבַתּוֹרָה֙ וּבַמִּצְוָ֔ה לִדְרֹ֖שׁ לֵֽאלֹהָ֑יו בְּכָל־לְבָב֥וֹ עָשָׂ֖ה וְהִצְלִֽיחַ׃ פ
