Hem Personer Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz was the second son of the prophet Isaiah. 1 The LORD said to me: Take a large tablet and write on it with an ordinary stylus: "Belonging to Maher-shalal-hash-baz." hebr וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֵלַ֔י קַח־לְךָ֖ גִּלָּי֣וֹן גָּד֑וֹל וּכְתֹ֤ב עָלָיו֙ בְּחֶ֣רֶט אֱנ֔וֹשׁ לְמַהֵ֥ר שָׁלָ֖ל חָ֥שׁ בַּֽז׃
2 And I took reliable witnesses for myself: Uriah the priest and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah. hebr וְאָעִ֣ידָה לִּ֔י עֵדִ֖ים נֶאֱמָנִ֑ים אֵ֚ת אוּרִיָּ֣ה הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְאֶת־זְכַרְיָ֖הוּ בֶּ֥ן יְבֶרֶכְיָֽהוּ׃
The prophetess (Isaiah's wife) became pregnant and gave birth to a son. The Lord commanded that he be named Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.
3 Then I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. And the LORD said to me: Name him Maher-shalal-hash-baz. hebr וָאֶקְרַב֙ אֶל־הַנְּבִיאָ֔ה וַתַּ֖הַר וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֑ן וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֵלַ֔י קְרָ֣א שְׁמ֔וֹ מַהֵ֥ר שָׁלָ֖ל חָ֥שׁ בַּֽז׃
Before the boy could say 'father' or 'mother,' the wealth of Damascus and the spoil from Samaria would be carried away to the king of Assyria.
4 For before the boy knows how to say "My father" or "My mother," the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be carried off before the king of Assyria. hebr כִּ֗י בְּטֶ֙רֶם֙ יֵדַ֣ע הַנַּ֔עַר קְרֹ֖א אָבִ֣י וְאִמִּ֑י יִשָּׂ֣א ׀ אֶת־חֵ֣יל דַּמֶּ֗שֶׂק וְאֵת֙ שְׁלַ֣ל שֹׁמְר֔וֹן לִפְנֵ֖י מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃ ס
Together with his brother Shear-Jashub, Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz was a living sign and wonder in Israel from the Lord, God of hosts.
18 Here I am, and the children the LORD has given me — we are signs and portents in Israel from the LORD of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion. hebr הִנֵּ֣ה אָנֹכִ֗י וְהַיְלָדִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָֽתַן־לִ֣י יְהוָ֔ה לְאֹת֥וֹת וּלְמוֹפְתִ֖ים בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מֵעִם֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת הַשֹּׁכֵ֖ן בְּהַ֥ר צִיּֽוֹן׃ ס
