Hem Personer Nimrod (son of Cush) Nimrod was the son of Cush and grandson of Ham. He was the first to become a mighty ruler on earth and was known as a mighty hunter before the Lord. He founded several great cities in Shinar and Assyria, including Babel and Nineveh.

He was a mighty hunter before the Lord, which became a saying: 'Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.'

Nimrod established his kingdom with Babel as its capital, along with Erech, Akkad and Calneh in the land of Shinar.
10 The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. hebr וַתְּהִ֨י רֵאשִׁ֤ית מַמְלַכְתּוֹ֙ בָּבֶ֔ל וְאֶ֖רֶךְ וְאַכַּ֣ד וְכַלְנֵ֑ה בְּאֶ֖רֶץ שִׁנְעָֽר׃
From Shinar he went out to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah and Resen, great cities in the Assyrian empire.
11 From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, hebr מִן־הָאָ֥רֶץ הַהִ֖וא יָצָ֣א אַשּׁ֑וּר וַיִּ֙בֶן֙ אֶת־נִ֣ינְוֵ֔ה וְאֶת־רְחֹבֹ֥ת עִ֖יר וְאֶת־כָּֽלַח׃
12 and Resen, between Nineveh and Calah — that is the great city. hebr וְֽאֶת־רֶ֔סֶן בֵּ֥ין נִֽינְוֵ֖ה וּבֵ֣ין כָּ֑לַח הִ֖וא הָעִ֥יר הַגְּדֹלָֽה׃
The prophet Micah refers to Assyria as 'the land of Nimrod' in his prophecy about the Messiah and Israel's future.
5 They will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod at its gates.
