Peulletai was one of the sons of Obed-Edom, a Levite who served as a gatekeeper at God's temple in Jerusalem during King David's reign. He was part of a large family blessed by God, and his father Obed-Edom is known for having the Lord's ark kept in his house. Peulletai is mentioned in connection with the organization of temple service.
David organized the Levites into divisions for temple service, and Obed-Edom's sons, including Peulletai, were assigned gatekeeping duties at the storehouses on the south side.
Before Peulletai's time, the Lord's ark had been kept in Obed-Edom's house for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all his household during that period.
10So David was unwilling to bring the ark of the LORD up to himself in the City of David; instead he turned it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
12King David was told, "The LORD has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him because of the ark of God." So David went and brought the ark of God up from the house of Obed-edom to the City of David with rejoicing.
