Samla was one of the early kings of Edom who reigned before there were kings in Israel. He came from the city of Masrekah and succeeded Hadad ben Bedad as king over Edom. Samla is mentioned in the genealogies in Genesis and 1 Chronicles as part of the line of Edomite kings.
