Sheshbazzar was a Levite who served in Jerusalem after the return from exile in Babylon. He was involved in the matter of mixed marriages and helped the people understand the law when Ezra read it aloud. He is mentioned several times in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah as one of the prominent Levites of this period.

Opposition to the Matter of Mixed Marriages
Sheshbazzar was among those involved in addressing the issue of Israelite men marrying foreign women, although some sources suggest he opposed the process.
7And Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah—the Levites—explained the Law to the people while they remained in their places.

Shabbethai was counted among the leading Levites who lived in Jerusalem after the rebuilding of the wall and played a central role in organizing temple service.
