The number 800 appears a few times in the Bible, especially in the genealogies in Genesis where it is mentioned as the number of years lived. For example, Adam lived 800 years after he fathered Seth (Gen 5:4), and Jared lived 800 years after he fathered Enoch (Gen 5:19). In 2 Sam 23:8 it is told that David's foremost warrior Josheb-Basshebeth struck down 800 enemies in one battle, which highlights his exceptional bravery. Despite these occurrences, 800 is not regarded as a central symbolic number on the same level as numbers like 7, 12 or 40 in biblical and Jewish tradition. In the Greek numbering system (isopsephy), the letter omega (Ω) has the numerical value of 800. Since omega is the last letter of the Greek alphabet, this has been associated in Christian symbolism with completion and God's eternity, as seen in Revelation 1:8 where God is called "Alpha and Omega". In the Hebrew letter tav (ת), its final form (sofit) is sometimes assigned the value of 400, while 800 may appear as a doubling of this value.
