Abiathar and Joab are removed from power

Solomon removes the priest Abiathar and sends him to Anathoth, so that the word of the Lord against the house of Eli is fulfilled. Joab flees to the tent of the Lord and grabs the horns of the altar, but Benaiah executes him on the king's command to atone for the bloodguilt from the murders of Abner and Amasa. Benaiah is placed over the army, and Zadok becomes priest in Abiathar's place. 1 Kings 2:26-35

1. Könige 2,26-35

26To Abiathar the priest the king said, "Go to Anathoth, to your own fields. You deserve to die, but I will not put you to death now, because you carried the ark of the Lord GOD before my father David and shared in all my father's hardships."
27So Solomon removed Abiathar from serving as priest to the LORD, fulfilling the word the LORD had spoken at Shiloh concerning the house of Eli.
28When the news reached Joab—who had sided with Adonijah, though he had not sided with Absalom—he fled to the tent of the LORD and took hold of the horns of the altar.
29King Solomon was told that Joab had fled to the tent of the LORD and was there beside the altar. So Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada with the order, "Go, strike him down."
30Benaiah came to the tent of the LORD and said to Joab, "The king says, 'Come out!'" But he answered, "No, I will die here." Benaiah brought word back to the king: "This is what Joab said, and this is how he answered me."
31The king said to him, "Do as he says. Strike him down and bury him, and so remove from me and from my father's house the innocent blood that Joab shed.
32The LORD will bring Joab's blood back on his own head, because he struck down two men more righteous and better than himself and killed them with the sword, without my father David's knowledge: Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel's army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah's army.
33Their blood will come back on the head of Joab and on the head of his descendants forever; but for David and his descendants, his house and his throne, there will be peace from the LORD forevermore."
34So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, struck Joab down, and put him to death; and he was buried at his own house in the wilderness.
35The king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada over the army in his place, and he put Zadok the priest in the place of Abiathar.
