Amoz (Hebrew: Amots) is known as the father of the prophet Isaiah, one of the major prophets in the Old Testament. Little is known about his own life beyond his role as Isaiah's father. He should not be confused with the prophet Amos, despite the similarity in names.
Amoz is identified as the father of the prophet Isaiah in the opening verse of the book of Isaiah, which places the prophet's ministry during the reigns of kings Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah in Judah.

Amoz is mentioned as Isaiah's father in connection with the prophet's ministry during King Hezekiah's reign, when the Assyrian king Sennacherib threatened Jerusalem.
2He sent Eliakim, who was in charge of the palace, Shebna the scribe, and the senior priests, all of them covered in sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.
20Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent word to Hezekiah: "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria.
