Shuah was one of the sons of Abraham and his wife Keturah, whom Abraham took as a wife after Sarah's death. Shuah became the ancestor of a people who bore his name, and his descendants settled in the areas east of Canaan.

Born as a son of Abraham and Keturah

Shuah was born as one of the six sons Abraham had with his wife Keturah after Sarah died.

1Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah.
וַיֹּ֧סֶף אַבְרָהָ֛ם וַיִּקַּ֥ח אִשָּׁ֖ה וּשְׁמָ֥הּ קְטוּרָֽה׃ ‬
2She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.
וַתֵּ֣לֶד ל֗וֹ אֶת־זִמְרָן֙ וְאֶת־יָקְשָׁ֔ן וְאֶת־מְדָ֖ן וְאֶת־מִדְיָ֑ן וְאֶת־יִשְׁבָּ֖ק וְאֶת־שֽׁוּחַ׃ ‬

Sent Away from Isaac

Abraham gave gifts to the sons of his concubines, including Shuah, and sent them away from his son Isaac toward the east while he was still living.

6But to the sons of his concubines Abraham gave gifts, and while he was still alive he sent them away from his son Isaac, eastward to the land of the east.
וְלִבְנֵ֤י הַפִּֽילַגְשִׁים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְאַבְרָהָ֔ם נָתַ֥ן אַבְרָהָ֖ם מַתָּנֹ֑ת וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵ֞ם מֵעַ֨ל יִצְחָ֤ק בּנוֹ֙ בְּעוֹדֶ֣נּוּ חַ֔י קֵ֖דְמָה אֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ קֶֽדֶם׃ ‬

32Keturah, Abraham's concubine, bore Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. The sons of Jokshan: Sheba and Dedan.
