Suar was the father of Selumiel, who served as leader and chieftain of the tribe of Simeon during Israel's journey through the wilderness. Suar is mentioned in connection with the census and the organization of the tribes at Mount Sinai. He belonged to the tribe of Simeon and played an indirect role through his son's leadership among the generation that wandered in the desert.
22The descendants of Simeon: all the men twenty years old and upward who were fit for military service were counted and listed by name, one by one, according to their genealogy, by clan and family.
