Tob-Adonijah was a Levite sent out by King Jehoshaphat in his third year of reign to teach the people of Judah the law of the Lord. He was part of a group of Levites, priests, and officials who traveled through the cities of Judah with the Book of the Law, teaching the people.

King Jehoshaphat sent Tob-Adonijah along with other Levites, priests and officials to teach the people in the cities of Judah from the law of the Lord.

Tob-Adonijah was part of Jehoshaphat's extensive religious reform program, where the king sought to lead the people back to faithfulness toward the Lord by ensuring instruction in the law.
The group of Levites and priests that Tob-Adonijah belonged to carried the Book of the Law of the Lord as they traveled through all the cities of Judah, teaching among the people.
As a result of the spiritual renewal brought about by this teaching, the fear of the Lord came upon all the kingdoms in the surrounding lands, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.
11Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and silver as tribute, and the Arabs brought him flocks: seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred goats.
