The Holy River from the Temple

A man led Ezekiel out from the temple threshold and measured along a river flowing eastward, which grew deeper at each step—from ankles to knees to hips until it became a river too deep to cross except by swimming. The river flowed down into the Arabah valley and healed the sea, so that it teemed with fish from En-Gedi to En-Eglaim. On both banks grew fruit trees that bore fresh fruit every month for food, while their leaves were for healing Ezekiel 47:1-12.

Ezequiel 47,1-12

1Then he brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and there was water flowing out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the temple faced east. The water was running down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.
2He led me out through the north gate and brought me around the outside to the outer gate that faces east, and I saw water trickling out on the south side.
3As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and led me through the water, and it came up to my ankles.
4He measured another thousand and led me through the water, and it came up to my knees. He measured another thousand and led me through, and it came up to my waist.
5He measured another thousand, and now it was a river I could not cross, for the water had risen deep enough to swim in—a river that could not be crossed.
6He said to me, "Son of man, do you see this?" Then he led me back to the bank of the river.
7When I came back, I saw a great many trees along both banks of the river.
8He said to me, "This water flows out toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, and where it enters the sea, the sea of stagnant water, the water is made fresh.
9Every living creature that swarms wherever the river flows will live. There will be great numbers of fish, because this water reaches there and makes the waters fresh; wherever the river flows, everything will live.
10Fishermen will stand along its shore; from En-gedi to En-eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. Its fish will be of many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly many.
11But its swamps and marshes will not be made fresh; they are left for salt.
12Along the river, on both banks, all kinds of fruit trees will grow. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will never fail. Every month they will bear fresh fruit, because its waters flow from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing."
