A Song of Mockery and Judgment Against Extortioners in Judah
The Lord proclaims woe to those who plan evil on their beds and seize fields, houses, and inheritances from their neighbors Mi 2:1-2. Therefore the Lord plans disaster against this family, and on the day of judgment a bitter taunt will be sung: "We are completely destroyed!" The inheritance will be taken away, and no one shall cast lots for land in the assembly of the Lord Mi 2:3-5. The leaders of the people will prevent true prophets from speaking, but the Lord accuses the people of rising up as enemies, stripping cloaks from peaceful passersby, and driving women out of their homes Mi 2:6-10. A false prophet who promises wine and strong drink would be more fitting for this people Mi 2:11.
Miqueas 2,1-11
1Woe to those who devise iniquity, who work out evil on their beds! At dawn they carry it out, because they have the power to do it.
ה֧וֹי חֹֽשְׁבֵי־אָ֛וֶן וּפֹ֥עֲלֵי רָ֖ע עַל־מִשְׁכְּבוֹתָ֑ם בְּא֤וֹר הַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ יַעֲשׂ֔וּהָ כִּ֥י יֶשׁ־לְאֵ֖ל יָדָֽם׃
2They covet fields and seize them, houses too, and take them away. They oppress a man and his household, a person and his inheritance.
וְחָמְד֤וּ שָׂדוֹת֙ וְגָזָ֔לוּ וּבָתִּ֖ים וְנָשָׂ֑אוּ וְעָֽשְׁקוּ֙ גֶּ֣בֶר וּבֵית֔וֹ וְאִ֖ישׁ וְנַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃ פ
3Therefore this is what the LORD says: See, I am planning disaster against this family, and you will not slip your necks out of it. You will no longer walk with your heads held high, for it will be a time of disaster.
לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנְנִ֥י חֹשֵׁ֛ב עַל־הַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את רָעָ֑ה אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹֽא־תָמִ֨ישׁוּ מִשָּׁ֜ם צַוְּארֹֽתֵיכֶ֗ם וְלֹ֤א תֵֽלְכוּ֙ רוֹמָ֔ה כִּ֛י עֵ֥ת רָעָ֖ה הִֽיא׃
4On that day they will taunt you with this saying, and wail this bitter lament: "We are utterly ruined! He exchanges the portion of my people; he takes it away from me and parcels out our fields to the traitor."
בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יִשָּׂ֧א עֲלֵיכֶ֣ם מָשָׁ֗ל וְנָהָ֨ה נְהִ֤י נִֽהְיָה֙ אָמַר֙ שָׁד֣וֹד נְשַׁדֻּ֔נוּ חֵ֥לֶק עַמִּ֖י יָמִ֑יר אֵ֚יךְ יָמִ֣ישׁ לִ֔י לְשׁוֹבֵ֥ב שָׂדֵ֖ינוּ יְחַלֵּֽק׃
5Therefore you will have no one in the assembly of the LORD to cast the measuring line for an allotment.
לָכֵן֙ לֹֽא־יִֽהְיֶ֣ה לְךָ֔ מַשְׁלִ֥יךְ חֶ֖בֶל בְּגוֹרָ֑ל בִּקְהַ֖ל יְהוָֽה׃
6"Stop preaching!" they preach. "Do not preach about such things; disgrace will never overtake us."
אַל־תַּטִּ֖פוּ יַטִּיפ֑וּן לֹֽא־יַטִּ֣פוּ לָאֵ֔לֶּה לֹ֥א יִסַּ֖ג כְּלִמּֽוֹת׃
7Should this be said, house of Jacob? Is the Spirit of the LORD short of patience? Are these his doings? Do my words not bring good to the one who walks uprightly?
הֶאָמ֣וּר בֵּֽית־יַעֲקֹ֗ב הֲקָצַר֙ ר֣וּחַ יְהוָ֔ה אִם־אֵ֖לֶּה מַעֲלָלָ֑יו הֲל֤וֹא דְבָרַי֙ יֵיטִ֔יבוּ עִ֖ם הַיָּשָׁ֥ר הוֹלֵֽךְ׃
8But lately you have risen up against my people as an enemy. You strip the robe from those who pass by in peace, from those returning from war.
וְאֶתְמ֗וּל עַמִּי֙ לְאוֹיֵ֣ב יְקוֹמֵ֔ם מִמּ֣וּל שַׂלְמָ֔ה אֶ֖דֶר תַּפְשִׁט֑וּן מֵעֹבְרִ֣ים בֶּ֔טַח שׁוּבֵ֖י מִלְחָמָֽה׃
9You drive the women of my people from their pleasant homes; you take away my glory from their children forever.
נְשֵׁ֤י עַמִּי֙ תְּגָ֣רְשׁ֔וּן מִבֵּ֖ית תַּֽעֲנֻגֶ֑יהָ מֵעַל֙ עֹֽלָלֶ֔יהָ תִּקְח֥וּ הֲדָרִ֖י לְעוֹלָֽם׃
10Get up and go, for this is no place of rest! Because it is defiled, it brings ruin—a grievous ruin.
ק֣וּמוּ וּלְכ֔וּ כִּ֥י לֹא־זֹ֖את הַמְּנוּחָ֑ה בַּעֲב֥וּר טָמְאָ֛ה תְּחַבֵּ֖ל וְחֶ֥בֶל נִמְרָֽץ׃
11If a man full of wind and falsehood should lie and say, "I will preach to you of wine and strong drink," he would be just the preacher for this people!
לוּ־אִ֞ישׁ הֹלֵ֥ךְ ר֙וּחַ֙ וָשֶׁ֣קֶר כִּזֵּ֔ב אַטִּ֣ף לְךָ֔ לַיַּ֖יִן וְלַשֵּׁכָ֑ר וְהָיָ֥ה מַטִּ֖יף הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּֽה׃
