Nathanael asked doubtfully, 'Can anything good come out of Nazareth?' Philip answered, 'Come and see!'
46 "Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip. gr καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ναθαναήλ· Ἐκ Ναζαρὲτ δύναταί τι ἀγαθὸν εἶναι; λέγει αὐτῷ ⸀ὁ Φίλιππος· Ἔρχου καὶ ἴδε.
Jesus saw Nathanael coming and said, 'See, here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit!'
47 When Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit." gr εἶδεν ⸀ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὸν Ναθαναὴλ ἐρχόμενον πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ λέγει περὶ αὐτοῦ· Ἴδε ἀληθῶς Ἰσραηλίτης ἐν ᾧ δόλος οὐκ ἔστιν.
When Nathanael asked how Jesus knew him, Jesus answered that he had seen him under the fig tree before Philip called him.
48 "How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree, before Philip called you." gr λέγει αὐτῷ Ναθαναήλ· Πόθεν με γινώσκεις; ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Πρὸ τοῦ σε Φίλιππον φωνῆσαι ὄντα ὑπὸ τὴν συκῆν εἶδόν σε.
49 Nathanael replied, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel." gr ἀπεκρίθη ⸂αὐτῷ Ναθαναήλ⸃· Ῥαββί, σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ, σὺ ⸂βασιλεὺς εἶ⸃ τοῦ Ἰσραήλ.
