Mentioned in David's genealogy

Elisjua is listed among David's sons in the genealogies of Chronicles, which document the royal line.

5These were born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon—four by Bathshua, the daughter of Ammiel—

David's royal family in Jerusalem

After David conquered Jerusalem and moved there, he had several sons and daughters, including Elisjua, who was part of the growing royal family.

3In Jerusalem David took more wives, and he fathered more sons and daughters.

David's establishment in Jerusalem

David's conquest of Jerusalem and its establishment as Israel's capital set the context for Elisjua's birth and upbringing in the royal court.

6The king and his men marched on Jerusalem against the Jebusites who lived there. They said to David, "You will never get in here. Even the blind and the lame could drive you off"—meaning, "David will never get in here."
7But David captured the stronghold of Zion—that is, the City of David.
8That day David said, "Whoever attacks the Jebusites must go up through the water shaft to reach the lame and the blind, those whom David hates." That is why they say, "The blind and the lame shall not enter the house."
9David took up residence in the stronghold and called it the City of David, and he built up the area around it, from the Millo inward.
10And David went on and grew greater and greater, for the LORD God of hosts was with him.
