También conocido como: Ham

La creaciónPatriarchc. 2900–2000 BC

Ham was one of Noah's three sons who survived the flood with his family in the ark. He is best known for the incident where he saw his father's nakedness and told his brothers about it, which led to Noah cursing Ham's son Canaan. Ham is regarded as the ancestor of several peoples, including Egyptians, Canaanites, and Cushites.

Survived the flood

Ham was one of the eight people who survived the great flood by entering the ark that Noah built at God's command.

7Noah went into the ark, and with him his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, to escape the waters of the flood.
13On that very day Noah entered the ark, together with Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah's sons, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons.

Left the Ark

After the waters receded, Ham went out of the ark with his father, his brothers, and their wives to repopulate the earth.

18So Noah came out, together with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives.
19Every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird—everything that moves on the earth—came out of the ark, one kind after another.

Saw His Father's Nakedness

When Noah became drunk from wine and lay naked in his tent, Ham saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers instead of covering him.

20Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard.
21He drank some of the wine, became drunk, and lay uncovered inside his tent.
22Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside.

The Curse on Canaan

When Noah awoke and understood what had happened, he cursed Ham's son Canaan to be a servant to his brothers.

24When Noah awoke from his wine and learned what his youngest son had done to him,
25he said, "Cursed be Canaan! He will be the lowest of slaves to his brothers."
26He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be his slave.
27May God extend Japheth's territory, and may he dwell in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave."

Ancestor of Many Nations

Ham's descendants spread out and became many nations, including the Egyptians (Mizraim), Cushites, Putites, and Canaanites who settled in areas of Africa and the Middle East.

6The sons of Ham: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.
7The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.
8Cush fathered Nimrod, who was the first to become a mighty man on the earth.
20These are the sons of Ham, by their clans and languages, in their lands and nations.
