Then the LORD said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you alone are righteous before me in this generation.
Take with you seven pairs of every clean animal, the male and its mate, and one pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and its mate,
and also seven pairs of the birds of the sky, male and female, to keep their kind alive on the face of all the earth.
For in seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the ground every living thing I have made."
And Noah did everything the LORD commanded him.
Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came upon the earth.
Noah went into the ark, and with him his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, to escape the waters of the flood.
Of the clean animals and of the animals that are not clean, of the birds and of everything that creeps on the ground,
two by two they came to Noah into the ark, male and female, just as God had commanded Noah.
And after the seven days the waters of the flood came upon the earth.
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month—on that day all the springs of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.
On that very day Noah entered the ark, together with Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah's sons, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons.
They came, and with them every wild animal according to its kind, all the livestock according to its kind, every creature that crawls on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind—every winged creature of every sort.
They came to Noah into the ark, two by two, of all flesh that has the breath of life in it.
Those that entered were male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him. Then the LORD shut him in.
The flood continued forty days on the earth. The waters rose and lifted the ark, and it was raised high above the earth.
The waters surged and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark drifted on the surface of the waters.
The waters rose higher and higher over the earth, until all the high mountains under the whole sky were covered.
The waters rose fifteen cubits above them, and the mountains were covered.
Every living thing that moved on the earth perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the swarming creatures that swarm on the earth, and all mankind.
Everything on dry land that had the breath of the spirit of life in its nostrils died.
He wiped out every living thing on the face of the ground—man and animals, creeping things and birds of the sky. They were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.
And the waters prevailed over the earth a hundred and fifty days.
