Preservation of David's Line

Neariah's presence in the genealogy testifies to God's faithfulness in preserving David's line, in keeping with the promise of an eternal throne.

12When your days are done and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom.

16Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before you; your throne will be established forever.'"

Another Neariah – A Descendant of Simeon

Another person named Neariah, son of Ishi, was one of the leaders of the Simeonites who defeated the Amalekites at Mount Seir.

42Five hundred of these Simeonites went to Mount Seir, led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
43They struck down the remnant of the Amalekites who had survived, and they have lived there to this day.
