In the Bible, 17 is linked to several important events that point toward victory and new beginnings. Noah's ark landed on Mount Ararat on the 17th day of the seventh month (Genesis 8:4), marking the start of a new world after the flood. Joseph was 17 years old when he was sold by his brothers (Genesis 37:2), an event that ultimately led to Israel's deliverance from famine – suffering turned into victory. According to Christian tradition, Jesus rose from the dead on 17 Nisan, which represents the ultimate victory over death. The number is therefore consistently interpreted as a sign of God's sovereign power to turn defeat into triumph and bring new life out of destruction. The number 17 is traditionally seen as a combination of 10 (God's law and order) and 7 (spiritual perfection). This interpretation is particularly prominent in the work of British Bible scholar E.W. Bullinger in his book "Number in Scripture" (1894). In Jewish tradition, the 17th of Tammuz (Shiva Asar B'Tammuz) is a fast day marking the breaching of Jerusalem's walls during both the Babylonian and Roman sieges. Paradoxically, this day of mourning in Jewish eschatology also points forward to final restoration and redemption. In Romans 8:35–39, Paul lists 17 things that cannot separate us from God's love, which in Christian numerology has been viewed as a confirmation of the number's connection to complete victory.*
