Etusivu Henkilöt Hur Hur was a prominent Israelite who, along with Aaron, supported Moses during the battle against the Amalekites. He was also entrusted with leadership responsibilities alongside Aaron when Moses went up Mount Sinai. Jewish tradition links him to Miriam as her husband.

11 As long as Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; but whenever he let his hand down, Amalek prevailed. hepr וְהָיָ֗ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר יָרִ֥ים מֹשֶׁ֛ה יָד֖וֹ וְגָבַ֣ר יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְכַאֲשֶׁ֥ר יָנִ֛יחַ יָד֖וֹ וְגָבַ֥ר עֲמָלֵֽק׃
12 When Moses' hands grew heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on each side, so that his hands remained steady until sunset. hepr וִידֵ֤י מֹשֶׁה֙ כְּבֵדִ֔ים וַיִּקְחוּ־אֶ֛בֶן וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ תַחְתָּ֖יו וַיֵּ֣שֶׁב עָלֶ֑יהָ וְאַהֲרֹ֨ן וְח֜וּר תָּֽמְכ֣וּ בְיָדָ֗יו מִזֶּ֤ה אֶחָד֙ וּמִזֶּ֣ה אֶחָ֔ד וַיְהִ֥י יָדָ֛יו אֱמוּנָ֖ה עַד־בֹּ֥א הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃
13 So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. hepr וַיַּחֲלֹ֧שׁ יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ אֶת־עֲמָלֵ֥ק וְאֶת־עַמּ֖וֹ לְפִי־חָֽרֶב׃ פ
When Moses went up Mount Sinai to receive the law, Hur was appointed along with Aaron to settle disputes for the people in his absence.
14 He said to the elders, "Wait here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever has a dispute can go to them." hepr וְאֶל־הַזְּקֵנִ֤ים אָמַר֙ שְׁבוּ־לָ֣נוּ בָזֶ֔ה עַ֥ד אֲשֶׁר־נָשׁ֖וּב אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם וְהִנֵּ֨ה אַהֲרֹ֤ן וְחוּר֙ עִמָּכֶ֔ם מִי־בַ֥עַל דְּבָרִ֖ים יִגַּ֥שׁ אֲלֵהֶֽם׃
He was the grandfather of Bezalel through his son Uri. Bezalel was chosen by God and filled with wisdom to lead the work on the tabernacle.
2 "See, I have called by name Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, hepr רְאֵ֖ה קָרָ֣אתִֽי בְשֵׁ֑ם בְּצַלְאֵ֛ל בֶּן־אוּרִ֥י בֶן־ח֖וּר לְמַטֵּ֥ה יְהוּדָֽה׃
Hur belonged to the tribe of Judah and was thus part of the lineage that would later lead to King David and the Messiah.
30 Then Moses said to the Israelites, "See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, hepr וַיֹּ֤אמֶר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל רְא֛וּ קָרָ֥א יְהוָ֖ה בְּשֵׁ֑ם בְּצַלְאֵ֛ל בֶּן־אוּרִ֥י בֶן־ח֖וּר לְמַטֵּ֥ה יְהוּדָֽה׃
