Korah was one of the sons of Esau and his wife Oholibama, daughter of Anah. He became a tribal chief (aluf) among the Edomites in the mountains of Seir. He represents one of the Edomite clans established as part of Esau's descendants.
Esau took his wives, sons, daughters, and all his household with him and moved to the hill country of Seir, away from his brother Jacob, because the land could not support them both.
