Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai, was the chosen leader of the tribe of Simeon during Israel's wilderness journey. He was appointed by God to assist Moses in the census and represented his tribe at the dedication of the tabernacle. He is one of the twelve tribal princes who played a vital role in organizing the people of Israel after their exodus from Egypt.
22The descendants of Simeon: all the men twenty years old and upward who were fit for military service were counted and listed by name, one by one, according to their genealogy, by clan and family.
On the second day of the dedication of the tabernacle, Shelumiel presented his offering, which included a silver plate, a silver basin, a gold spoon with incense, as well as burnt offerings and sin offerings.
37His offering was one silver plate weighing a hundred and thirty shekels and one silver basin of seventy shekels, by the sanctuary shekel, both of them filled with fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering;
41and for the fellowship offering, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.
When the people of Israel broke camp from the wilderness of Sinai, Shelumiel led the military division of the tribe of Simeon as part of the organized march.
