Matthieu 5,1-7,29
1When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain. He sat down, and his disciples came to him,
Ἰδὼν δὲ τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος· καὶ καθίσαντος αὐτοῦ προσῆλθαν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ·
2and he began to teach them, saying:
καὶ ἀνοίξας τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ ἐδίδασκεν αὐτοὺς λέγων·
3"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Μακάριοι οἱ πτωχοὶ τῷ πνεύματι, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.
4Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
μακάριοι οἱ πενθοῦντες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ παρακληθήσονται.
5Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
μακάριοι οἱ πραεῖς, ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσι τὴν γῆν.
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
μακάριοι οἱ πεινῶντες καὶ διψῶντες τὴν δικαιοσύνην, ὅτι αὐτοὶ χορτασθήσονται.
7Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
μακάριοι οἱ ἐλεήμονες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ ἐλεηθήσονται.
8Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
μακάριοι οἱ καθαροὶ τῇ καρδίᾳ, ὅτι αὐτοὶ τὸν θεὸν ὄψονται.
9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
μακάριοι οἱ εἰρηνοποιοί, ὅτι αὐτοὶ υἱοὶ θεοῦ κληθήσονται.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
μακάριοι οἱ δεδιωγμένοι ἕνεκεν δικαιοσύνης, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.
11Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and speak all kinds of evil against you falsely because of me.
μακάριοί ἐστε ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς καὶ διώξωσιν καὶ εἴπωσιν πᾶν ⸀πονηρὸν καθʼ ὑμῶν ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ.
12Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven; that is how they persecuted the prophets who came before you.
χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε, ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· οὕτως γὰρ ἐδίωξαν τοὺς προφήτας τοὺς πρὸ ὑμῶν.
13You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by people.
Ὑμεῖς ἐστε τὸ ἅλας τῆς γῆς· ἐὰν δὲ τὸ ἅλας μωρανθῇ, ἐν τίνι ἁλισθήσεται; εἰς οὐδὲν ἰσχύει ἔτι εἰ μὴ ⸂βληθὲν ἔξω⸃ καταπατεῖσθαι ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων.
14You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Ὑμεῖς ἐστε τὸ φῶς τοῦ κόσμου. οὐ δύναται πόλις κρυβῆναι ἐπάνω ὄρους κειμένη·
15No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket; they set it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
οὐδὲ καίουσιν λύχνον καὶ τιθέασιν αὐτὸν ὑπὸ τὸν μόδιον ἀλλʼ ἐπὶ τὴν λυχνίαν, καὶ λάμπει πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ.
16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
οὕτως λαμψάτω τὸ φῶς ὑμῶν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ὅπως ἴδωσιν ὑμῶν τὰ καλὰ ἔργα καὶ δοξάσωσιν τὸν πατέρα ὑμῶν τὸν ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.
17Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
Μὴ νομίσητε ὅτι ἦλθον καταλῦσαι τὸν νόμον ἢ τοὺς προφήτας· οὐκ ἦλθον καταλῦσαι ἀλλὰ πληρῶσαι·
18Truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the Law until everything is accomplished.
ἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν, ἕως ἂν παρέλθῃ ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ, ἰῶτα ἓν ἢ μία κεραία οὐ μὴ παρέλθῃ ἀπὸ τοῦ νόμου, ἕως ἂν πάντα γένηται.
19So whoever sets aside one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
ὃς ἐὰν οὖν λύσῃ μίαν τῶν ἐντολῶν τούτων τῶν ἐλαχίστων καὶ διδάξῃ οὕτως τοὺς ἀνθρώπους, ἐλάχιστος κληθήσεται ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν· ὃς δʼ ἂν ποιήσῃ καὶ διδάξῃ, οὗτος μέγας κληθήσεται ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν.
20For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν μὴ περισσεύσῃ ⸂ὑμῶν ἡ δικαιοσύνη⸃ πλεῖον τῶν γραμματέων καὶ Φαρισαίων, οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν.
21You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder,' and 'Whoever murders will be liable to judgment.'
Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη τοῖς ἀρχαίοις· Οὐ φονεύσεις· ὃς δʼ ἂν φονεύσῃ, ἔνοχος ἔσται τῇ κρίσει.
22But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever says to his brother, 'Raca,' will be liable to the council; and whoever says, 'You fool,' will be liable to the fire of hell.[^1]
[^1]: *Raca* is an Aramaic term of contempt, roughly 'empty-head' or 'good-for-nothing.'
ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ὀργιζόμενος τῷ ἀδελφῷ ⸀αὐτοῦ ἔνοχος ἔσται τῇ κρίσει· ὃς δʼ ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ· Ῥακά, ἔνοχος ἔσται τῷ συνεδρίῳ· ὃς δʼ ἂν εἴπῃ· Μωρέ, ἔνοχος ἔσται εἰς τὴν γέενναν τοῦ πυρός.
23So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,
ἐὰν οὖν προσφέρῃς τὸ δῶρόν σου ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον κἀκεῖ μνησθῇς ὅτι ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἔχει τι κατὰ σοῦ,
24leave your gift there before the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
ἄφες ἐκεῖ τὸ δῶρόν σου ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου καὶ ὕπαγε πρῶτον διαλλάγηθι τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου, καὶ τότε ἐλθὼν πρόσφερε τὸ δῶρόν σου.
25Settle matters quickly with your accuser while you are still on the way with him, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you will be thrown into prison.
ἴσθι εὐνοῶν τῷ ἀντιδίκῳ σου ταχὺ ἕως ὅτου εἶ ⸂μετʼ αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ⸃, μήποτέ σε παραδῷ ὁ ἀντίδικος τῷ κριτῇ, καὶ ὁ ⸀κριτὴς τῷ ὑπηρέτῃ, καὶ εἰς φυλακὴν βληθήσῃ·
26Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
ἀμὴν λέγω σοι, οὐ μὴ ἐξέλθῃς ἐκεῖθεν ἕως ἂν ἀποδῷς τὸν ἔσχατον κοδράντην.
27You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.'
Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη· Οὐ μοιχεύσεις.
28But I tell you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πᾶς ὁ βλέπων γυναῖκα πρὸς τὸ ἐπιθυμῆσαι αὐτὴν ἤδη ἐμοίχευσεν αὐτὴν ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ.
29If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into hell.
εἰ δὲ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου ὁ δεξιὸς σκανδαλίζει σε, ἔξελε αὐτὸν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ, συμφέρει γάρ σοι ἵνα ἀπόληται ἓν τῶν μελῶν σου καὶ μὴ ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου βληθῇ εἰς γέενναν.
30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body go into hell.
καὶ εἰ ἡ δεξιά σου χεὶρ σκανδαλίζει σε, ἔκκοψον αὐτὴν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ, συμφέρει γάρ σοι ἵνα ἀπόληται ἓν τῶν μελῶν σου καὶ μὴ ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου ⸂εἰς γέενναν ἀπέλθῃ⸃.
31It was also said, 'Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.'
Ἐρρέθη ⸀δέ· Ὃς ἂν ἀπολύσῃ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ, δότω αὐτῇ ἀποστάσιον.
32But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except on the grounds of sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ⸂πᾶς ὁ ἀπολύων⸃ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ παρεκτὸς λόγου πορνείας ποιεῖ αὐτὴν ⸀μοιχευθῆναι, καὶ ὃς ἐὰν ἀπολελυμένην γαμήσῃ μοιχᾶται.
33Again, you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but you shall fulfill to the Lord the oaths you have sworn.'
Πάλιν ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη τοῖς ἀρχαίοις· Οὐκ ἐπιορκήσεις, ἀποδώσεις δὲ τῷ κυρίῳ τοὺς ὅρκους σου.
34But I tell you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne;
ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν μὴ ὀμόσαι ὅλως· μήτε ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, ὅτι θρόνος ἐστὶν τοῦ θεοῦ·
35nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
μήτε ἐν τῇ γῇ, ὅτι ὑποπόδιόν ἐστιν τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ· μήτε εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα, ὅτι πόλις ἐστὶν τοῦ μεγάλου βασιλέως·
36And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black.
μήτε ἐν τῇ κεφαλῇ σου ὀμόσῃς, ὅτι οὐ δύνασαι μίαν τρίχα λευκὴν ⸂ποιῆσαι ἢ μέλαιναν⸃.
37Let your word be 'Yes, yes' or 'No, no'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
ἔστω δὲ ὁ λόγος ὑμῶν ναὶ ναί, οὒ οὔ· τὸ δὲ περισσὸν τούτων ἐκ τοῦ πονηροῦ ἐστιν.
38You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.'
Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη· Ὀφθαλμὸν ἀντὶ ὀφθαλμοῦ καὶ ὀδόντα ἀντὶ ὀδόντος.
39But I tell you, do not resist the one who is evil. If anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν μὴ ἀντιστῆναι τῷ πονηρῷ· ἀλλʼ ὅστις σε ⸀ῥαπίζει ⸀εἰς τὴν δεξιὰν ⸀σιαγόνα, στρέψον αὐτῷ καὶ τὴν ἄλλην·
40And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat as well.
καὶ τῷ θέλοντί σοι κριθῆναι καὶ τὸν χιτῶνά σου λαβεῖν, ἄφες αὐτῷ καὶ τὸ ἱμάτιον·
41If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two.
καὶ ὅστις σε ἀγγαρεύσει μίλιον ἕν, ὕπαγε μετʼ αὐτοῦ δύο.
42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
τῷ αἰτοῦντί σε ⸀δός, καὶ τὸν θέλοντα ἀπὸ σοῦ δανίσασθαι μὴ ἀποστραφῇς.
43You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη· Ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου καὶ μισήσεις τὸν ἐχθρόν σου.
44But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀγαπᾶτε τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ⸀ὑμῶν καὶ προσεύχεσθε ὑπὲρ ⸀τῶν διωκόντων ὑμᾶς·
45so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
ὅπως γένησθε υἱοὶ τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τοῦ ⸀ἐν οὐρανοῖς, ὅτι τὸν ἥλιον αὐτοῦ ἀνατέλλει ἐπὶ πονηροὺς καὶ ἀγαθοὺς καὶ βρέχει ἐπὶ δικαίους καὶ ἀδίκους.
46For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
ἐὰν γὰρ ἀγαπήσητε τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας ὑμᾶς, τίνα μισθὸν ἔχετε; οὐχὶ καὶ οἱ τελῶναι ⸂τὸ αὐτὸ⸃ ποιοῦσιν;
47And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?
καὶ ἐὰν ἀσπάσησθε τοὺς ⸀ἀδελφοὺς ὑμῶν μόνον, τί περισσὸν ποιεῖτε; οὐχὶ καὶ οἱ ⸀ἐθνικοὶ ⸂τὸ αὐτὸ⸃ ποιοῦσιν;
48You, therefore, are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Ἔσεσθε οὖν ὑμεῖς τέλειοι ⸀ὡς ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ ⸀οὐράνιος τέλειός ἐστιν.
1"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
Προσέχετε ⸀δὲ τὴν ⸀δικαιοσύνην ὑμῶν μὴ ποιεῖν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων πρὸς τὸ θεαθῆναι αὐτοῖς· εἰ δὲ μή γε, μισθὸν οὐκ ἔχετε παρὰ τῷ πατρὶ ὑμῶν τῷ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.
2So when you give to the needy, don't sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be praised by others. I tell you the truth: they have received their reward in full.
Ὅταν οὖν ποιῇς ἐλεημοσύνην, μὴ σαλπίσῃς ἔμπροσθέν σου, ὥσπερ οἱ ὑποκριταὶ ποιοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς ῥύμαις, ὅπως δοξασθῶσιν ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων· ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσιν τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.
3But when you give to the needy, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
σοῦ δὲ ποιοῦντος ἐλεημοσύνην μὴ γνώτω ἡ ἀριστερά σου τί ποιεῖ ἡ δεξιά σου,
4so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
ὅπως ᾖ σου ἡ ἐλεημοσύνη ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ ⸀κρυπτῷ ἀποδώσει ⸀σοι.
5"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. They love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners, to be seen by others. I tell you the truth: they have received their reward in full.
Καὶ ὅταν ⸂προσεύχησθε, οὐκ ἔσεσθε ὡς⸃ οἱ ὑποκριταί· ὅτι φιλοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς γωνίαις τῶν πλατειῶν ἑστῶτες προσεύχεσθαι, ⸀ὅπως φανῶσιν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις· ἀμὴν λέγω ⸀ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσι τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.
6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
σὺ δὲ ὅταν προσεύχῃ, εἴσελθε εἰς τὸ ταμεῖόν σου καὶ κλείσας τὴν θύραν σου πρόσευξαι τῷ πατρί σου τῷ ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ ἀποδώσει ⸀σοι.
7And when you pray, do not babble on like the pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
Προσευχόμενοι δὲ μὴ βατταλογήσητε ὥσπερ οἱ ἐθνικοί, δοκοῦσιν γὰρ ὅτι ἐν τῇ πολυλογίᾳ αὐτῶν εἰσακουσθήσονται·
8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
μὴ οὖν ὁμοιωθῆτε αὐτοῖς, οἶδεν γὰρ ⸀ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὧν χρείαν ἔχετε πρὸ τοῦ ὑμᾶς αἰτῆσαι αὐτόν.
9This, then, is how you should pray: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
Οὕτως οὖν προσεύχεσθε ὑμεῖς· Πάτερ ἡμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· ἁγιασθήτω τὸ ὄνομά σου,
10your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
ἐλθέτω ἡ βασιλεία σου, γενηθήτω τὸ θέλημά σου, ὡς ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ⸀ἐπὶ γῆς·
11Give us today our daily bread.
τὸν ἄρτον ἡμῶν τὸν ἐπιούσιον δὸς ἡμῖν σήμερον·
12And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
καὶ ἄφες ἡμῖν τὰ ὀφειλήματα ἡμῶν, ὡς καὶ ἡμεῖς ⸀ἀφήκαμεν τοῖς ὀφειλέταις ἡμῶν·
13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
καὶ μὴ εἰσενέγκῃς ἡμᾶς εἰς πειρασμόν, ἀλλὰ ῥῦσαι ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ ⸀πονηροῦ.
14For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
ἐὰν γὰρ ἀφῆτε τοῖς ἀνθρώποις τὰ παραπτώματα αὐτῶν, ἀφήσει καὶ ὑμῖν ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος·
15But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ἀφῆτε τοῖς ⸀ἀνθρώποις, οὐδὲ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ἀφήσει τὰ παραπτώματα ὑμῶν.
16"When you fast, do not look somber like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. I tell you the truth: they have received their reward in full.
Ὅταν δὲ νηστεύητε, μὴ γίνεσθε ⸀ὡς οἱ ὑποκριταὶ σκυθρωποί, ἀφανίζουσιν γὰρ τὰ πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ὅπως φανῶσιν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις νηστεύοντες· ἀμὴν λέγω ⸀ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσιν τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.
17But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
σὺ δὲ νηστεύων ἄλειψαί σου τὴν κεφαλὴν καὶ τὸ πρόσωπόν σου νίψαι,
18so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is hidden from sight. And your Father, who sees what is hidden, will reward you.
ὅπως μὴ φανῇς τοῖς ἀνθρώποις νηστεύων ἀλλὰ τῷ πατρί σου τῷ ἐν τῷ ⸀κρυφαίῳ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ ⸁κρυφαίῳ ἀποδώσει σοι.
19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
Μὴ θησαυρίζετε ὑμῖν θησαυροὺς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ὅπου σὴς καὶ βρῶσις ἀφανίζει, καὶ ὅπου κλέπται διορύσσουσιν καὶ κλέπτουσιν·
20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
θησαυρίζετε δὲ ὑμῖν θησαυροὺς ἐν οὐρανῷ, ὅπου οὔτε σὴς οὔτε βρῶσις ἀφανίζει, καὶ ὅπου κλέπται οὐ διορύσσουσιν οὐδὲ κλέπτουσιν·
21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
ὅπου γάρ ἐστιν ὁ θησαυρός ⸀σου, ἐκεῖ ἔσται καὶ ἡ καρδία ⸁σου.
22"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.
Ὁ λύχνος τοῦ σώματός ἐστιν ὁ ὀφθαλμός. ἐὰν οὖν ⸂ᾖ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου ἁπλοῦς⸃, ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου φωτεινὸν ἔσται·
23But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. And if the light within you is darkness, how deep that darkness is!
ἐὰν δὲ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου πονηρὸς ᾖ, ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου σκοτεινὸν ἔσται. εἰ οὖν τὸ φῶς τὸ ἐν σοὶ σκότος ἐστίν, τὸ σκότος πόσον.
24"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Οὐδεὶς δύναται δυσὶ κυρίοις δουλεύειν· ἢ γὰρ τὸν ἕνα μισήσει καὶ τὸν ἕτερον ἀγαπήσει, ἢ ἑνὸς ἀνθέξεται καὶ τοῦ ἑτέρου καταφρονήσει. οὐ δύνασθε θεῷ δουλεύειν καὶ μαμωνᾷ.
25"Therefore I tell you: do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Διὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν· μὴ μεριμνᾶτε τῇ ψυχῇ ὑμῶν τί ⸀φάγητε, μηδὲ τῷ σώματι ὑμῶν τί ἐνδύσησθε· οὐχὶ ἡ ψυχὴ πλεῖόν ἐστι τῆς τροφῆς καὶ τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἐνδύματος;
26Look at the birds of the air: they do not sow or reap or gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth far more than they?
ἐμβλέψατε εἰς τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ὅτι οὐ σπείρουσιν οὐδὲ θερίζουσιν οὐδὲ συνάγουσιν εἰς ἀποθήκας, καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος τρέφει αὐτά· οὐχ ὑμεῖς μᾶλλον διαφέρετε αὐτῶν;
27And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?
τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν μεριμνῶν δύναται προσθεῖναι ἐπὶ τὴν ἡλικίαν αὐτοῦ πῆχυν ἕνα;
28And why do you worry about clothing? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: they do not labor or spin.
καὶ περὶ ἐνδύματος τί μεριμνᾶτε; καταμάθετε τὰ κρίνα τοῦ ἀγροῦ πῶς ⸂αὐξάνουσιν· οὐ κοπιῶσιν οὐδὲ νήθουσιν⸃·
29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδὲ Σολομὼν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ δόξῃ αὐτοῦ περιεβάλετο ὡς ἓν τούτων.
30If God so clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more clothe you, you of little faith?
εἰ δὲ τὸν χόρτον τοῦ ἀγροῦ σήμερον ὄντα καὶ αὔριον εἰς κλίβανον βαλλόμενον ὁ θεὸς οὕτως ἀμφιέννυσιν, οὐ πολλῷ μᾶλλον ὑμᾶς, ὀλιγόπιστοι;
31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
μὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε λέγοντες· Τί φάγωμεν; ἤ· Τί πίωμεν; ἤ· Τί περιβαλώμεθα;
32The pagans chase after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
πάντα γὰρ ταῦτα τὰ ἔθνη ⸀ἐπιζητοῦσιν· οἶδεν γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος ὅτι χρῄζετε τούτων ἁπάντων.
33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
ζητεῖτε δὲ πρῶτον τὴν ⸀βασιλείαν καὶ τὴν δικαιοσύνην αὐτοῦ, καὶ ταῦτα πάντα προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν.
34So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has trouble enough of its own.
μὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε εἰς τὴν αὔριον, ἡ γὰρ αὔριον μεριμνήσει ⸀αὑτῆς· ἀρκετὸν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἡ κακία αὐτῆς.
1"Do not judge, so that you will not be judged.
Μὴ κρίνετε, ἵνα μὴ κριθῆτε·
2For with the judgment you use to judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use to measure, it will be measured to you.
ἐν ᾧ γὰρ κρίματι κρίνετε κριθήσεσθε, καὶ ἐν ᾧ μέτρῳ μετρεῖτε μετρηθήσεται ὑμῖν.
3Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the beam in your own?
τί δὲ βλέπεις τὸ κάρφος τὸ ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου, τὴν δὲ ἐν τῷ σῷ ὀφθαλμῷ δοκὸν οὐ κατανοεῖς;
4Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the while there is a beam in your own eye?
ἢ πῶς ἐρεῖς τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου· Ἄφες ἐκβάλω τὸ κάρφος ⸀ἐκ τοῦ ὀφθαλμοῦ σου, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἡ δοκὸς ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ σοῦ;
5You hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
ὑποκριτά, ἔκβαλε πρῶτον ⸂ἐκ τοῦ ὀφθαλμοῦ σοῦ τὴν δοκόν⸃, καὶ τότε διαβλέψεις ἐκβαλεῖν τὸ κάρφος ἐκ τοῦ ὀφθαλμοῦ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου.
6Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls in front of pigs. They will only trample them underfoot, then turn and tear you to pieces.
Μὴ δῶτε τὸ ἅγιον τοῖς κυσίν, μηδὲ βάλητε τοὺς μαργαρίτας ὑμῶν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν χοίρων, μήποτε ⸀καταπατήσουσιν αὐτοὺς ἐν τοῖς ποσὶν αὐτῶν καὶ στραφέντες ῥήξωσιν ὑμᾶς.
7Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
Αἰτεῖτε, καὶ δοθήσεται ὑμῖν· ζητεῖτε, καὶ εὑρήσετε· κρούετε, καὶ ἀνοιγήσεται ὑμῖν.
8For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks the door will be opened.
πᾶς γὰρ ὁ αἰτῶν λαμβάνει καὶ ὁ ζητῶν εὑρίσκει καὶ τῷ κρούοντι ⸀ἀνοιγήσεται.
9Which of you, if your son asks you for bread, would hand him a stone?
ἢ τίς ⸀ἐστιν ἐξ ὑμῶν ἄνθρωπος, ὃν ⸀αἰτήσει ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἄρτον— μὴ λίθον ἐπιδώσει αὐτῷ;
10Or if he asks for a fish, would hand him a snake?
⸀ἢ καὶ ⸂ἰχθὺν αἰτήσει⸃— μὴ ὄφιν ἐπιδώσει αὐτῷ;
11So if you, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
εἰ οὖν ὑμεῖς πονηροὶ ὄντες οἴδατε δόματα ἀγαθὰ διδόναι τοῖς τέκνοις ὑμῶν, πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς δώσει ἀγαθὰ τοῖς αἰτοῦσιν αὐτόν.
12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you; for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Πάντα οὖν ὅσα ⸀ἐὰν θέλητε ἵνα ποιῶσιν ὑμῖν οἱ ἄνθρωποι, οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε αὐτοῖς· οὗτος γάρ ἐστιν ὁ νόμος καὶ οἱ προφῆται.
13Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many go through it.
Εἰσέλθατε διὰ τῆς στενῆς πύλης· ὅτι πλατεῖα ⸂ἡ πύλη⸃ καὶ εὐρύχωρος ἡ ὁδὸς ἡ ἀπάγουσα εἰς τὴν ἀπώλειαν, καὶ πολλοί εἰσιν οἱ εἰσερχόμενοι διʼ αὐτῆς·
14But narrow is the gate and hard is the road that leads to life, and few find it.
⸀ὅτι στενὴ ἡ πύλη καὶ τεθλιμμένη ἡ ὁδὸς ἡ ἀπάγουσα εἰς τὴν ζωήν, καὶ ὀλίγοι εἰσὶν οἱ εὑρίσκοντες αὐτήν.
15Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
⸀Προσέχετε ἀπὸ τῶν ψευδοπροφητῶν, οἵτινες ἔρχονται πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐν ἐνδύμασι προβάτων ἔσωθεν δέ εἰσιν λύκοι ἅρπαγες.
16You will recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
ἀπὸ τῶν καρπῶν αὐτῶν ἐπιγνώσεσθε αὐτούς. μήτι συλλέγουσιν ἀπὸ ἀκανθῶν ⸀σταφυλὰς ἢ ἀπὸ τριβόλων σῦκα;
17In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but a rotten tree bears bad fruit.
οὕτως πᾶν δένδρον ἀγαθὸν καρποὺς καλοὺς ποιεῖ, τὸ δὲ σαπρὸν δένδρον καρποὺς πονηροὺς ποιεῖ·
18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a rotten tree cannot bear good fruit.
οὐ δύναται δένδρον ἀγαθὸν καρποὺς πονηροὺς ⸀ποιεῖν, οὐδὲ δένδρον σαπρὸν καρποὺς καλοὺς ποιεῖν.
19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
πᾶν δένδρον μὴ ποιοῦν καρπὸν καλὸν ἐκκόπτεται καὶ εἰς πῦρ βάλλεται.
20So then, you will recognize them by their fruit.
ἄρα γε ἀπὸ τῶν καρπῶν αὐτῶν ἐπιγνώσεσθε αὐτούς.
21Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
Οὐ πᾶς ὁ λέγων μοι· Κύριε κύριε εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν, ἀλλʼ ὁ ποιῶν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν ⸀τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.
22On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and drive out demons in your name, and perform many miracles in your name?'
πολλοὶ ἐροῦσίν μοι ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ· Κύριε κύριε, οὐ τῷ σῷ ὀνόματι ἐπροφητεύσαμεν, καὶ τῷ σῷ ὀνόματι δαιμόνια ἐξεβάλομεν, καὶ τῷ σῷ ὀνόματι δυνάμεις πολλὰς ἐποιήσαμεν;
23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you who practice lawlessness.'
καὶ τότε ὁμολογήσω αὐτοῖς ὅτι Οὐδέποτε ἔγνων ὑμᾶς· ἀποχωρεῖτε ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ οἱ ἐργαζόμενοι τὴν ἀνομίαν.
24Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Πᾶς οὖν ὅστις ἀκούει μου τοὺς λόγους τούτους καὶ ποιεῖ αὐτούς, ⸀ὁμοιωθήσεται ἀνδρὶ φρονίμῳ, ὅστις ᾠκοδόμησεν ⸂αὐτοῦ τὴν οἰκίαν⸃ ἐπὶ τὴν πέτραν.
25The rain came down, the rivers rose, the winds blew and beat against that house, and it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock.
καὶ κατέβη ἡ βροχὴ καὶ ἦλθον οἱ ποταμοὶ καὶ ἔπνευσαν οἱ ἄνεμοι καὶ προσέπεσαν τῇ οἰκίᾳ ἐκείνῃ, καὶ οὐκ ἔπεσεν, τεθεμελίωτο γὰρ ἐπὶ τὴν πέτραν.
26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
καὶ πᾶς ὁ ἀκούων μου τοὺς λόγους τούτους καὶ μὴ ποιῶν αὐτοὺς ὁμοιωθήσεται ἀνδρὶ μωρῷ, ὅστις ᾠκοδόμησεν ⸂αὐτοῦ τὴν οἰκίαν⸃ ἐπὶ τὴν ἄμμον.
27The rain came down, the rivers rose, the winds blew and struck that house, and it fell with a great crash."
καὶ κατέβη ἡ βροχὴ καὶ ἦλθον οἱ ποταμοὶ καὶ ἔπνευσαν οἱ ἄνεμοι καὶ προσέκοψαν τῇ οἰκίᾳ ἐκείνῃ, καὶ ἔπεσεν, καὶ ἦν ἡ πτῶσις αὐτῆς μεγάλη.
28When Jesus had finished saying these words, the crowds were astounded at his teaching,
Καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ⸀ἐτέλεσεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοὺς λόγους τούτους, ἐξεπλήσσοντο οἱ ὄχλοι ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ αὐτοῦ·
29because he taught them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.
ἦν γὰρ διδάσκων αὐτοὺς ὡς ἐξουσίαν ἔχων καὶ οὐχ ὡς οἱ γραμματεῖς ⸀αὐτῶν.
Luc 6,20-49
20Then he lifted up his eyes to his disciples and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
Καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπάρας τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ εἰς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ ἔλεγεν· Μακάριοι οἱ πτωχοί, ὅτι ὑμετέρα ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ.
21Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
μακάριοι οἱ πεινῶντες νῦν, ὅτι χορτασθήσεσθε. μακάριοι οἱ κλαίοντες νῦν, ὅτι γελάσετε.
22Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and denounce your name as evil because of the Son of Man.
Μακάριοί ἐστε ὅταν μισήσωσιν ὑμᾶς οἱ ἄνθρωποι, καὶ ὅταν ἀφορίσωσιν ὑμᾶς καὶ ὀνειδίσωσιν καὶ ἐκβάλωσιν τὸ ὄνομα ὑμῶν ὡς πονηρὸν ἕνεκα τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου·
23Rejoice on that day and leap for joy, for your reward is great in heaven. That is exactly how their ancestors treated the prophets.
χάρητε ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ καὶ σκιρτήσατε, ἰδοὺ γὰρ ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ· κατὰ ⸂τὰ αὐτὰ⸃ γὰρ ἐποίουν τοῖς προφήταις οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν.
24But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.
πλὴν οὐαὶ ὑμῖν τοῖς πλουσίοις, ὅτι ἀπέχετε τὴν παράκλησιν ὑμῶν.
25Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
οὐαὶ ὑμῖν, οἱ ἐμπεπλησμένοι ⸀νῦν, ὅτι πεινάσετε. ⸀οὐαί, οἱ γελῶντες νῦν, ὅτι πενθήσετε καὶ κλαύσετε.
26Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is exactly how their ancestors treated the false prophets.
Οὐαὶ ὅταν ⸂καλῶς ὑμᾶς⸃ εἴπωσιν ⸀πάντες οἱ ἄνθρωποι, κατὰ ⸂τὰ αὐτὰ⸃ γὰρ ἐποίουν τοῖς ψευδοπροφήταις οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν.
27"But I say to you who are listening: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
Ἀλλὰ ὑμῖν λέγω τοῖς ἀκούουσιν, ἀγαπᾶτε τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ὑμῶν, καλῶς ποιεῖτε τοῖς μισοῦσιν ὑμᾶς,
28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
εὐλογεῖτε τοὺς καταρωμένους ⸀ὑμᾶς, προσεύχεσθε ⸀περὶ τῶν ἐπηρεαζόντων ὑμᾶς.
29If someone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other as well; and if someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt.
τῷ τύπτοντί σε ἐπὶ τὴν σιαγόνα πάρεχε καὶ τὴν ἄλλην, καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἴροντός σου τὸ ἱμάτιον καὶ τὸν χιτῶνα μὴ κωλύσῃς.
30Give to everyone who asks you, and if someone takes what is yours, do not demand it back.
⸀παντὶ αἰτοῦντί σε δίδου, καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἴροντος τὰ σὰ μὴ ἀπαίτει.
31Do to others as you would have them do to you.
καὶ καθὼς θέλετε ἵνα ποιῶσιν ὑμῖν οἱ ⸀ἄνθρωποι, ποιεῖτε αὐτοῖς ὁμοίως.
32If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.
Καὶ εἰ ἀγαπᾶτε τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας ὑμᾶς, ποία ὑμῖν χάρις ἐστίν; καὶ γὰρ οἱ ἁμαρτωλοὶ τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας αὐτοὺς ἀγαπῶσιν.
33And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.
⸀καὶ ἐὰν ἀγαθοποιῆτε τοὺς ἀγαθοποιοῦντας ὑμᾶς, ποία ὑμῖν χάρις ἐστίν; ⸁καὶ οἱ ἁμαρτωλοὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ποιοῦσιν.
34And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount.
καὶ ἐὰν ⸀δανίσητε παρʼ ὧν ἐλπίζετε ⸀λαβεῖν, ποία ὑμῖν χάρις ἐστίν; ⸀καὶ ἁμαρτωλοὶ ἁμαρτωλοῖς δανίζουσιν ἵνα ἀπολάβωσιν τὰ ἴσα.
35Instead, love your enemies, do good, and lend without expecting anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.
πλὴν ἀγαπᾶτε τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ὑμῶν καὶ ἀγαθοποιεῖτε καὶ δανίζετε μηδὲν ἀπελπίζοντες· καὶ ἔσται ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολύς, καὶ ἔσεσθε υἱοὶ Ὑψίστου, ὅτι αὐτὸς χρηστός ἐστιν ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀχαρίστους καὶ πονηρούς.
36Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
⸀γίνεσθε οἰκτίρμονες ⸀καθὼς ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν οἰκτίρμων ἐστίν·
37"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Καὶ μὴ κρίνετε, καὶ οὐ μὴ κριθῆτε· ⸀καὶ μὴ καταδικάζετε, καὶ οὐ μὴ καταδικασθῆτε. ἀπολύετε, καὶ ἀπολυθήσεσθε·
38Give, and it will be given to you: a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be poured into your lap. For the measure you use will be the measure you receive.
δίδοτε, καὶ δοθήσεται ὑμῖν· μέτρον καλὸν πεπιεσμένον ⸀σεσαλευμένον ὑπερεκχυννόμενον δώσουσιν εἰς τὸν κόλπον ὑμῶν· ⸂ᾧ γὰρ μέτρῳ⸃ μετρεῖτε ἀντιμετρηθήσεται ὑμῖν.
39He also told them a parable: "Can one blind man lead another? Won't they both fall into a pit?
Εἶπεν δὲ ⸀καὶ παραβολὴν αὐτοῖς· Μήτι δύναται τυφλὸς τυφλὸν ὁδηγεῖν; οὐχὶ ἀμφότεροι εἰς βόθυνον ⸀ἐμπεσοῦνται;
40A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone fully trained will be like his teacher.
οὐκ ἔστιν μαθητὴς ὑπὲρ τὸν ⸀διδάσκαλον, κατηρτισμένος δὲ πᾶς ἔσται ὡς ὁ διδάσκαλος αὐτοῦ.
41Why do you notice the speck in your brother's eye, but fail to see the beam in your own?
τί δὲ βλέπεις τὸ κάρφος τὸ ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου, τὴν δὲ δοκὸν τὴν ἐν τῷ ἰδίῳ ὀφθαλμῷ οὐ κατανοεῖς;
42How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself do not see the beam in your own? You hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
⸀πῶς δύνασαι λέγειν τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου· Ἀδελφέ, ἄφες ἐκβάλω τὸ κάρφος τὸ ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ σου, αὐτὸς τὴν ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ σοῦ δοκὸν οὐ βλέπων; ὑποκριτά, ἔκβαλε πρῶτον τὴν δοκὸν ἐκ τοῦ ὀφθαλμοῦ σοῦ, καὶ τότε διαβλέψεις ⸂τὸ κάρφος τὸ ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου ἐκβαλεῖν⸃.
43"No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.
Οὐ γάρ ἐστιν δένδρον καλὸν ποιοῦν καρπὸν σαπρόν, οὐδὲ ⸀πάλιν δένδρον σαπρὸν ποιοῦν καρπὸν καλόν.
44Each tree is known by its own fruit. People do not gather figs from thornbushes, or pick grapes from a bramble.
ἕκαστον γὰρ δένδρον ἐκ τοῦ ἰδίου καρποῦ γινώσκεται· οὐ γὰρ ἐξ ἀκανθῶν συλλέγουσιν σῦκα, οὐδὲ ἐκ βάτου ⸂σταφυλὴν τρυγῶσιν⸃.
45The good person brings good out of the good treasure of the heart, and the evil person brings evil out of the evil treasure; for the mouth speaks from what fills the heart.
ὁ ἀγαθὸς ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ ἀγαθοῦ θησαυροῦ τῆς καρδίας ⸀αὐτοῦ προφέρει τὸ ἀγαθόν, καὶ ὁ ⸀πονηρὸς ἐκ τοῦ ⸀πονηροῦ προφέρει τὸ πονηρόν· ἐκ γὰρ ⸀περισσεύματος καρδίας λαλεῖ τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ.
46"Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I say?
Τί δέ με καλεῖτε· Κύριε κύριε, καὶ οὐ ποιεῖτε ἃ λέγω;
47Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and acts on them—I will show you what he is like.
πᾶς ὁ ἐρχόμενος πρός με καὶ ἀκούων μου τῶν λόγων καὶ ποιῶν αὐτούς, ὑποδείξω ὑμῖν τίνι ἐστὶν ὅμοιος·
48He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on rock. When the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.
ὅμοιός ἐστιν ἀνθρώπῳ οἰκοδομοῦντι οἰκίαν ὃς ἔσκαψεν καὶ ἐβάθυνεν καὶ ἔθηκεν θεμέλιον ἐπὶ τὴν πέτραν· πλημμύρης δὲ γενομένης προσέρηξεν ὁ ποταμὸς τῇ οἰκίᾳ ἐκείνῃ, καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσεν σαλεῦσαι αὐτὴν ⸂διὰ τὸ καλῶς οἰκοδομῆσθαι αὐτήν⸃.
49But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built his house on the ground without a foundation. The river burst against it, and it collapsed at once, and the ruin of that house was great.
ὁ δὲ ἀκούσας καὶ μὴ ποιήσας ὅμοιός ἐστιν ἀνθρώπῳ οἰκοδομήσαντι οἰκίαν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν χωρὶς θεμελίου, ᾗ προσέρηξεν ὁ ποταμός, καὶ ⸂εὐθὺς συνέπεσεν⸃, καὶ ἐγένετο τὸ ῥῆγμα τῆς οἰκίας ἐκείνης μέγα.
Luc 11,2-4
2He said to them, "When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς· Ὅταν προσεύχησθε, λέγετε· ⸀Πάτερ, ἁγιασθήτω τὸ ὄνομά σου· ἐλθέτω ἡ βασιλεία ⸀σου·
3Give us each day our daily bread.
τὸν ἄρτον ἡμῶν τὸν ἐπιούσιον δίδου ἡμῖν τὸ καθʼ ἡμέραν·
4And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation."
καὶ ἄφες ἡμῖν τὰς ἁμαρτίας ἡμῶν, καὶ γὰρ αὐτοὶ ἀφίομεν παντὶ ὀφείλοντι ἡμῖν· καὶ μὴ εἰσενέγκῃς ἡμᾶς εἰς ⸀πειρασμόν.
Luc 6,20-26
20Then he lifted up his eyes to his disciples and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
Καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπάρας τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ εἰς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ ἔλεγεν· Μακάριοι οἱ πτωχοί, ὅτι ὑμετέρα ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ.
21Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
μακάριοι οἱ πεινῶντες νῦν, ὅτι χορτασθήσεσθε. μακάριοι οἱ κλαίοντες νῦν, ὅτι γελάσετε.
22Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and denounce your name as evil because of the Son of Man.
Μακάριοί ἐστε ὅταν μισήσωσιν ὑμᾶς οἱ ἄνθρωποι, καὶ ὅταν ἀφορίσωσιν ὑμᾶς καὶ ὀνειδίσωσιν καὶ ἐκβάλωσιν τὸ ὄνομα ὑμῶν ὡς πονηρὸν ἕνεκα τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου·
23Rejoice on that day and leap for joy, for your reward is great in heaven. That is exactly how their ancestors treated the prophets.
χάρητε ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ καὶ σκιρτήσατε, ἰδοὺ γὰρ ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ· κατὰ ⸂τὰ αὐτὰ⸃ γὰρ ἐποίουν τοῖς προφήταις οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν.
24But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.
πλὴν οὐαὶ ὑμῖν τοῖς πλουσίοις, ὅτι ἀπέχετε τὴν παράκλησιν ὑμῶν.
25Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
οὐαὶ ὑμῖν, οἱ ἐμπεπλησμένοι ⸀νῦν, ὅτι πεινάσετε. ⸀οὐαί, οἱ γελῶντες νῦν, ὅτι πενθήσετε καὶ κλαύσετε.
26Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is exactly how their ancestors treated the false prophets.
Οὐαὶ ὅταν ⸂καλῶς ὑμᾶς⸃ εἴπωσιν ⸀πάντες οἱ ἄνθρωποι, κατὰ ⸂τὰ αὐτὰ⸃ γὰρ ἐποίουν τοῖς ψευδοπροφήταις οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν.
Luc 6,31
31Do to others as you would have them do to you.
καὶ καθὼς θέλετε ἵνα ποιῶσιν ὑμῖν οἱ ⸀ἄνθρωποι, ποιεῖτε αὐτοῖς ὁμοίως.
Marc 9,50
50Salt is good, but if the salt loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with one another."
καλὸν τὸ ἅλας· ἐὰν δὲ τὸ ἅλας ἄναλον γένηται, ἐν τίνι αὐτὸ ἀρτύσετε; ἔχετε ἐν ἑαυτοῖς ⸀ἅλα, καὶ εἰρηνεύετε ἐν ἀλλήλοις.
Luc 14,34-35
34Salt is good, but if salt loses its taste, how can it be made salty again?
Καλὸν ⸀οὖν τὸ ἅλας· ἐὰν δὲ ⸀καὶ τὸ ἅλας μωρανθῇ, ἐν τίνι ἀρτυθήσεται;
35It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown away. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear."
οὔτε εἰς γῆν οὔτε εἰς κοπρίαν εὔθετόν ἐστιν· ἔξω βάλλουσιν αὐτό. ὁ ἔχων ὦτα ἀκούειν ἀκουέτω.

47Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and acts on them—I will show you what he is like.

4Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

5Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
μακάριοι οἱ εἰρηνοποιοί, ὅτι αὐτοὶ υἱοὶ θεοῦ κληθήσονται.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
μακάριοι οἱ δεδιωγμένοι ἕνεκεν δικαιοσύνης, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.
11Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and speak all kinds of evil against you falsely because of me.
μακάριοί ἐστε ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς καὶ διώξωσιν καὶ εἴπωσιν πᾶν ⸀πονηρὸν καθʼ ὑμῶν ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ.
12Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven; that is how they persecuted the prophets who came before you.
χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε, ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· οὕτως γὰρ ἐδίωξαν τοὺς προφήτας τοὺς πρὸ ὑμῶν.
Matthieu 7,12
12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you; for this is the Law and the Prophets.

καὶ κατέβη ἡ βροχὴ καὶ ἦλθον οἱ ποταμοὶ καὶ ἔπνευσαν οἱ ἄνεμοι καὶ προσέπεσαν τῇ οἰκίᾳ ἐκείνῃ, καὶ οὐκ ἔπεσεν, τεθεμελίωτο γὰρ ἐπὶ τὴν πέτραν.
26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
καὶ πᾶς ὁ ἀκούων μου τοὺς λόγους τούτους καὶ μὴ ποιῶν αὐτοὺς ὁμοιωθήσεται ἀνδρὶ μωρῷ, ὅστις ᾠκοδόμησεν ⸂αὐτοῦ τὴν οἰκίαν⸃ ἐπὶ τὴν ἄμμον.
27The rain came down, the rivers rose, the winds blew and struck that house, and it fell with a great crash."
καὶ κατέβη ἡ βροχὴ καὶ ἦλθον οἱ ποταμοὶ καὶ ἔπνευσαν οἱ ἄνεμοι καὶ προσέκοψαν τῇ οἰκίᾳ ἐκείνῃ, καὶ ἔπεσεν, καὶ ἦν ἡ πτῶσις αὐτῆς μεγάλη.
Matthieu 6,9-13
9This, then, is how you should pray: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
