The New Commandment and the Prediction of Peter's Denial
After Judas had left the upper room, Jesus spoke about how the Son of Man is glorified and gave his disciples a new commandment: they must love one another just as he has loved them. When Peter asked where he was going and promised to lay down his life for him, Jesus predicted that Peter would deny him three times before the rooster crows.
Jean 13,31-38
31When he had gone, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him.
32If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself—and will glorify him at once.
33Little children, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: where I am going, you cannot come.
34A new commandment I give you: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
35By this everyone will know that you are my disciples—if you have love for one another."
36Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later."
37Peter said, "Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you."
38Jesus answered, "You will lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I tell you: before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."
