Ben was a Levite of the second rank who served under King David. He was appointed as a musician and gatekeeper in connection with the transport and storage of the ark of the covenant. He is mentioned in 1 Chronicles as part of the Levitical service corps that David organized for worship in the tabernacle.

The Ark of the Covenant is Brought to Jerusalem

Ben participated as part of the Levitical music corps when the Ark of the Covenant was carried up to Jerusalem amid great celebration and worship.

Service Before the Ark of the Covenant

After the ark was placed in the tent David had pitched for it, Ben continued his service as a musician before the Ark of the Covenant in daily worship.
